$25000 maximum coverage per person,
$50000 maximum coverage per accident.
That is how much you are covered for. $25,000/$50,000
25/per person; 50/accident
$25k medical coverage for any one person max
$50k medical coverage for max for all people involved
***This is an important number. If you hit someone with 5 people in their car, your insurance will only pay a maximum of $50k total. If each has less than $10k in injuries you are fine, but if 3 people have $25k in injuries - YOU are responsible for anything after the $50k is reached.
The last $25k is for property damage. If the car/house (whatever) you hit is worth more than $25k, you are responsible for the difference.
Remember, these are coverages to those people and property OUTSIDE your car. There should be a Medical coverage amount too. This covers the medical bills of people in your car if you are in an accident and it is your fault. Frankly, this number should be at least as high as the number you set for the other car (in your case $25k). Think about it, if they are in your car, you probably care more about them!
You have 25,000 in bodily injury liability coverage per person and 50,000 bodily injury liability coverage per accident. The there is 25,000 property damage liability coverage.
I think you should buy more liability insurance. If you rear ended a new Mercedes Benz with two occupants, the liability exposures would probably exceed the available coverage.
Some insurance companies will sell a $500,000 combined single limit policy; meaning you have a total of $500,000 liability coverage for bodily injury and property damage in any accident.
