Have you ever been in a serious auto accident?

I’m just wondering how modern auto safety systems with seat belts and airbags help prevent injury, or not.
Could you please briefly describe the accident and what sort of injuries you and your passengers had. How about the other car’s injuries.

I was a front passenger in a car when someone crossed the center line and hit us head on. The air bag did open, but I can’t say what injuries it prevented. My seat belt ABSOLUTELY saved my life. Unfortunately because I was turned slightly in my seat, the seat belt did cause some injury. I had a broken back, rib, and ankle as as a result of the accident. The back and rib (and of course the collapsed lung that goes with the rib) were due to the force of the seat belt. The driver of the car I was in broke her foot. The backseat passenger had no injuries. The other driver received head and chest injuries. He was in a convertible, but I do believe he made a full recovery. So in summary, seat belts save lives!
I was just in an accident with my parents new 2006 acura RL and I had hit the side of a car that had ran a red light. The car is the safest car ever. It had seatbelt pretensioners six front and side airbags (which all deployed which was weird) abs that also lessened the impact. I walked away with only a couple scratches. I was the only one in the car.My parents just bought another acura rl.
