I was just curious, it came to my mind after talking to my girlfriend about how long minor violations stay on record (which is an average of three years).

In most states, it is permanent. The reason for this is to count prior offenses. Wisconsin allows you to go back 10 years for a second offense, and lifetime for third and subsequent offenses.
Forever!!!!
Most states it’s seven years. Unless you get your third.
