I am 34 weeks pregnant and I have a pinched nerve in my lower back. It kind of comes and goes which makes me think that it might just be the way that the baby is sitting, but is there anything I can do to relieve the pain?
P.S. I don’t lay flat on my back either, so that is not the culpret.

When I was pregnant, I had constant sciatic nerve pain during my last trimester. It’s kind of hard to get a chiropractic adjustment at that stage but it’s not unheard of and it is impossible to try traction in that area, so you might want to go have a gentle massage done a few times to see if that helps loosen up the nerve. But if your baby was stubborn like mine, I had to grin and bear it for a while. After I also developed migraine headaches, as well, in my third trimester, my gynecologist put me on Tylenol #3 for a while to help relieve the horrible pain. As long as it is supervised by your OB/GYN, it is safe enough or the doctors wouldn’t prescribe it for fear of a malpractice suit. It just depends on how much pain you can take. Hopefully, your baby will shift over a little bit and give you some relief without having to take any drastic measures. But a massage, if done properly, can be the safest way to loosen up that dang pinched nerve or possibly make the baby ’scootch’ over a little bit and get off of your nerve. I didn’t want to resort to meds while pregnant, but I really had no other choice. And I had a perfectly healthy, big, ol’ boy that came about a week early. My sympathies go out to you….I hope you feel better soon!!
i got a adjustment
i felt so much better
it lasted for about 3 weeks
but so worth it
go to the chiropracter, thats what worked for me youll need to see him every otherday for the first week then weekly. when looking for one ask if they have experience with preg women
I used to have those too, I laid on my side, usually the right side, with a couple of pillows I could tuck together and put my left leg over them, then worked on moving that baby to a different position.
Capsaicin cream works too, I’ve been on that for awhile now.
hot pat , or those pads that are hold or cold that you stick on, ben gay, you could talkin to dr to see if there are some pads you can stick there there will relieve the pain. good luck
go to a chiropractor. I’m 34 weeks along too and have been seeing mine all along. I had a pinched nerve in one of my ribs and he as really helped that. and even if its just the way the baby is, they can really help. the pain your having is probably from the sciatic nerve getting pinched, or your hips being out of place which can happen a lot as things get "looser" the closer you get to delivery. Good luck to you
oh wow your delivery is going to be very painful. Back deliverys are the worst. What did your doc say about this? You need to talk to your doc because this may affect your delivery. Im not a doc so im not going to make up some stuff becuase I will not be responsible for you taking my advice and hurting youself any more. Talk to your doc please
Try a gentle heated massage. I know it’s a pinched nerve, but if you use like BenGay or something, and have someone give you a massage, that should loosen things up enough to give you a little relief. Who knows maybe laying on your side for a while will make the baby move too.
Good Luck
