I’m not sure if my back injury is serious or not. I’m a 13 year old girl, and 4 months ago, in one of my basketball games, i took a hard hit and fell on my back awkwardly. It still hurts to this day. When I walk, part of like my lower spine pops…
I’ve tried everything, ice, heat, ibuprofen… nothing has worked, and the pain is sometimes unbearable.
My mom is taking me to the doctor tomorrow, and we were informed that I will probably need and x-ray or MRI.
Any ideas on what this could be? Also, I visited the doctor a day after the game i was injured in, and they said it was like a muscle thing. Except, it doesn’t feel like the muscle that hurts, it’s like my spine…

And do the pay for it each month, or do the pay for it every 3 months, 4 months or what? I need to know for a project.

A year ago, I went hiking and injured a muscle in my left lower back. I put ice and heat on it thinking that it would go away (and not knowing yet what was causing the back pains) but it didn’t. After a whole month, I tried acupuncture, which made it worse, and finally I went to the doctor who advised me to go for massage therapy. With massage therapy, I began to heal slowly, but not in a major way and I also received chiropractic treatment for 4 months, once a week first, then every other week. During this time, I occassionally felt pain in my left knee and ankle, but about 6 weeeks ago, while still receiving massage therapy every other week, the pain became chronic and now I feel tingling and numbness in my left leg and I can’t take my regular 30 min walk without feeling pain and discomfort.
The X rays of my back showed nothing really out of the ordinary(nothing wrong with my spinal cord) and the doctor suggests I go to physiotherapy and he also said I have a bit of a pinched nerve near where the muscle injury was. After all this therapy, I doubt physiotherapy would really help. Do I just listen to the doctor and go to physiotherapy or try acupuncture again? I stopped massage and chiropractic treament because I wasn’t getting better in any major way. Please help.

Could this have cause damage to sciatic nerve?

While zip-lining on Maui in July, I took a pretty hard "butt landing." Didn’t notice anything-no subsequent pain. However, every day for the past month I have pain in my left buttock that often travels down the leg. Could damage to any of the sciatic nerves show up 3 or 4 months later? I am 56 years old and very active with high school Special Ed. students.
Serious and valid replies only, please. Thanks much!

bulging disc in lumbar spine treatment?

I hurt my back on Dec 1 in MMA class. The pain at first was so bad i couldn’t walk, and then improved to where i could run, lift weights, and be active (excluding some exercises). On July 25th I found out I have a bulging disc in my lumbar region.

The sports med. doctor and chiropractor both said i can continue to be active as long as I don’t stress or strain the muscle. (running, cardio, some weight training is okay)

Does that make sense? Shouldn’t I lay in bed for 2 months and just watch TV so it heals quicker? They both said the opposite of what I assumed I should do.

Has anyone had a bulging disc that took over 8 months to heal? I’m beyond frustrated because I can’t physically do the activities/sports I love to do.

Please give me advice.
Thanks.
I should have said this before… Now I’m 90 % better and have been for 4 months. I can do every weight lifting exercise…. except military presses, close-grip pullups, and bent over rows… even with light 10 pound weights. Those movements cause pain. Yet I can kickbox, lift, run, do up-downs.

I don’t know what I have to do to get myself to 100%.

I have a split spinal cord, chiari malformation and fibromyalgia. I have numbness in my right leg and about 4 months ago my left leg started burning and migrated to my left foot. Now my skin on my left heel is peeling away.

Magic is only 4 months old, he is a cocker spaniel. The vet is sending me to a specialist -says he has a spinal cord injury. He doesn’t voluntarily move his hind legs, holds his head to the left and seems to be in a lot of pain. I make very little money does anyone know what the surgery might cost? Is medication an option? Just any help would be nice. Thanks

I am 26. I had a lumbar fusion at the L4-5 lvl 03 April 2006. My surgeon said that I would feel like normal after three months. Here I am at 4 months and I am still in some pain. My back is killing me. It is hard for me to go shopping or walking downtown without being in a lot of pain that night. I recently seperated from th Air Force and I am looking for a job. I have turned down jobs because i could not physically perform the duties. How long was anyone else out of work, and how long did it take for the pain to go away? I was sure it would be sooner than this because I am young and I was in very good health and in shape before the surgery. Help???

I was rear ended 4 months ago. No doubt of the other guys guilt. He received 2 tickets for it and we even have the surveillance video from the store I was turning into. My question is, I received as they call it a soft tissue injury. I was taken by ambulance to the emergency room, MRIs showed the muscles affected were spasming severely. I was put on a 5 lb weight limit and pain pills and muscle relaxers. I was unable to do even routine things like sweep my floors let alone able to even pick up my children. The insurance company is not denying their responsibility but they only want to pay me 00 to cover my pain and suffering and mental anguish due to the recklessness of their client. I missed work, I have unpaid medical bills still that are currently in collections, and I still have pain if I over due it at work to this day. They are willing to pay my medical bills of 00. I have asked for ,000 to cover what I believe the pain and suffering and the total disruption to my life for the last 4 months since their client negligently hit me. They claim the 00 is their final offer, am I asking for too much? Or are they just not willing to pay what they should. I know of people who have gotten alot more for alot less happening.
It took me 3 1/2 months to decide what I have been though does equal money because I didn’t want to sound greedy. But realisticly how else to you get validation for the heartache, pain, stress, and interuption of your life? I feel by not "paying" something they are belittling the real pain, the loss of experiences, the loss of time that I missed out and can never get back because of their clients carelessness.
Thank you to those who understand what I was asking. Boo to those of you who try to judge and down grade what I am doing. 5 months ago I may have said the same thing as some of you, then I have had to go through the hell of this "accident". Don’t judge me until you have walked in my shoes. For those of you with the good advice, I have planned on settling for less without a lawyer, mainly because the guy’s insurance policy won’t pay more than ,000 so if I used a lawyer I would probably only get -6,000 anyways. I just wanted to make sure I was on the right track. Thank you!!
