I am in agony beyond belief. I cannot sleep. Seems that after nearly five years, my attorney did little to develop my PI case. Did not talk to the four witnesses, did not depose the defendants (owners of the art gallery).
Then, just 6 weeks before trial, he abruptly quit. Case worth 5,000 to 0,000.
5 years ago, at an art gallery a multi-paneled art object — 4 ft by 4 ft — broke from the wall & fell on me. Suffered soft-tissue neck injury. 4 witnesses. 5 doctors.
From the start, my Attorney said, We will have to go to trial. He suddenly quit just weeks before trial. Days before trial, Case so old judge would not grant me trial continuance. I settled for less than ,000. No choice. I plan to go to State Bar, then legal malpractice attorney. I was homeless, on welfare, this after working 6 years as software engineer. Lost everything I worked so hard for. Did get 100% Social Security disability. Needed compensation, though, to get back on feet.

I was in an auto accident and hired a lawyer to represent me. The insurance companies are (mine & the other motorist) are investgating in order to determine who is at fault… Meanwhile, I’m asking my attorney to see if the other motorist has full coverage, liability, etc… so I can have an idea as to how things are going to play themselves out in regards to my medical bills, and other compensation, etc… The attorney claims that he can’t get the details of the other motorist’s insurance policy to answer my questions. This doesn’t sound right to me. Shouldn’t he, not only be able to obtain their policy, but be working diligently, early on in the process, to obtain this information so he can guage the "possible" compensation that, not only myself, but the docter & himself (the lawyer) may receive? …my injury is a life altering injury and I need to know what options I have in regards to my medical & all other compensation I may be entitled to. I am not the type to blindly allow my lawyer to do as he chooses, while I remain in the dark as to the facts regarding my situation. Please enlighten me…

I was seriously injured in an auto accident and have no personal ins. The dr.’s will not do 3rd. party billing & bill the auto ins. directly. They want me to pay for all care up front. The specialists want 0.00-0.00 just for a consultation. I am in constant severe pain & need to get med. care fast but no one will help & the dr.’s won’t let me make payments! Go figure. If anyone knows anything that can help or a good lawyer that can help please let me know.

I was injured quite badly last year in a motorcycle/auto accident and have just received a fairly large settlement from AAA Michigan. Does anyone know if this is considered taxable income, or is it taxable in a different way?

I’ll be paying H&R Block to do my taxes this year due to a few complications in my life, but can anyone give me a heads up on this area? I need to know if I can start paying the bills accrued due to my ‘downtime’ or should I reserve some for taxes…

All past, present, and future medical bills are covered by AAA directly, and lost wages were paid in full while I was off work. The settlement is for ‘pain and suffering’ and what I need it for is to have someone finish a house I started to build before the accident. I am unable to climb on the roof, etc. like before so can’t do it myself as planned. Also there was a considerable amount of interest paid on another house I borrowed against to fund the new building. Yes, I know that amount is deductable.

I have a Bachelors degree in History and am currently working towards my Masters. Will my having 2 DWI’s keep me from becoming a teacher if its been over 8 years? I was 18 & 21 when I got them. Also will my discharge from the military influence me being hired?

It does not take away a womans right to get an abortion,even if it would mean she could only get a first trimester abortion that’s three months to get it done. That is more time than I had from the first symptoms of a back injury to the end of my recovery time after surgery. Why does someone need longer for a procedure that from start to finish takes perhaps a week to arrange,a few hours at the "doctor" and a recovery time of perhaps a week?

I’ve been having numbness in my big toe. It doesn’t occur during a particular activity, although I have noticed it more when I wear a certain pair of shoes. I’m assuming it’s a pinched nerve & don’t care enough at this point to pay towards my insurance deductible (it starts over soon), so please don’t just tell me to see a doctor. If you don’t know, just skip me. Anyway, if it’s just a pinched nerve, how do I "fix" that? I’ve had one before when I was younger and the solution was simple- don’t cross my legs so much. Since this is in my toe & not my leg, is there something else I should/could do? Thanks for any info. I’m not being dumb about it- asking on the Internet first is my way of knowing how serious to take this. If I drop dead before my deductible starts over, then you can call me dumb. Until then, I’m waiting. There is NO pain (for whoever said to ice it)- just numbness sometimes. Diabetes doesn’t run in my family unless you count a cat. I’m a young healthy woman. Like I said, I’ve had a pinched nerve before and the NEUROLOGIST was able to help simply by having me cross my legs less. That’s why I wanted to know if there was something I could do on my own. But, WHY is that the body’s auto-immune response to injury??

My fiancé’ & I were rear-ended Monday by someone exceeding the speed limit by 80mph. We were going about 15 mph (just pulled out and got straight in the road) The other person was doing 125 mph when we were hit. It of course totaled my car and unfortunately the other driver did not survive. I still owe about 00 on it so I am sure I will get that much for it. Their insurance company took fault of course & got me a rental car for 70 days. I went to ER that night & all x-rays were ok. I was released w/a cervical strain & a thoracic strain & a knee strain. I have only slept maybe 8 hours total in 4 days, everytime I close my eyes I see the accident, I am working b/c I can’t afford to stay out but my production is going down hill b/c I can’t focus. My neck pain is getting worse & my back as well. I went to doctor yesterday & he basically said I had strains & muscle spasm that should go away. He gave me anti-inflamtory meds & something to help me sleep but that hasn’t worked yet,
last night I still didn’t sleep, and when I do I have nightmares of the accident. My fiancé’ didn’t get hurt but he has images as well so he is going to doctor to help him rest to. We both saw the person be ejected out of the vehicle and fly in front of our car. It’s horrible. People are telling me that I can get their insurance company to give us the value of the car and still be able to settle with the medical later. One is that true? Next question, everyone is telling us to get a lawyer b/c this “post traumatic stress syndrome” that the doc told me I had could last forever and I may always have problems with my neck and back. I need help; I have never been through this before. Please tell me ups and downs and what’s the best way to handle this? At first I

We were hit head on by some kids who were uninsured. It was a pretty bad accident but luckily we have Personal Injury Protection and also uninsured motorists. The combined impact was about 90 mph and it totaled both cars, we are lucky to be alive. But our insurance company decided after 2 months that we must not really be hurt and tried to send us to get a independent medical examiner. That’s all fine and dandy because we have nothing to hide, we are both still truly hurt. But from what I understand from talking with our chiropractor is that this is a tactic the insurance company uses to stop paying for our medical bills and almost all of the "medical examiners" deem the patients fine and need no further treatment thus our medical bills would no longer be covered. So we got ourselves a lawyer to deal with this and they are seeking 300,000 dollars from our insurance company (which is the amount of uninsured motorist coverage we have.) This scares me, I don’t want this kid and his family to be ruined. What’s the likely hood that they will get that, and if not that, what is more likely?
I did go by ambulance to the hospital and I have seen a "real" doctor. As for the chiropractor, the majority of my pain is in my back, hence why I’m seeing a chiropractor. Originally I couldn’t turn my neck or bend down at all. Now my neck is doing better just a little irritated but my lower back is in constant pain. I have a 2 year old and it makes it difficult to do anything with her such as putting her to bed, etc because bending over with any kind of weight (like a 27 lb baby causes issues.)

Ok I was handcuffed behind my back, after telling and showing the officers that I had recent arm and breast surgery(2weeks prior). I asked that I be handcuffed in front and was denied, it caused a stitch to pop on my arm and stretch the incisions and delayed the healing.
I was pulled over for suspicion of DUI (charges were dropped BTW was under the legal limit) I have made a complaint in writing to the CHP,do I have a case? Thanks in advance.
Thank so far, and no I was not being difficult it’s just procedure. After making the complaint, when the watch comander talked to me he said they could have cuffed me in front(there are exceptions to procedure) and was seriously kissing my behind, "what would you like done etc…

Saturday night I wrecked my car. I was with a friend, he ran away. A cop stopped me and breathelized me I blew a .185. I spent 13 hours in jail. It was so scary. I have a 4.0 at A&M, I’m a good student, nothing like this has ever happened to me. I feel like this is the end of the world, I’m hopeless and I don’t know what to do. I know I need to find a good lawyer, I don’t even know how to go about this situation. I made a huge mistake please don’t remind me of that. Any advice, support, similar situations. Anything would be helpful. I’m so lost.
