Meaning worse punishments for higher BAC scores. Currently DWI laws have the same punishments for any BAC over the limit when its far more dangerous to drive at twice (or even 3 times) the legal limit. I also think if drunk and you kill someone it should be murder, not manslaughter.

I had 3 glasses of wine (on an empty stomach. I hadn’t eaten for 6+ hours. My friend and I were there for probably 4 hours. She walked with me out to my car and she later said that I walked in a straight line and didn’t have slurred speech, etc. She would have stopped me if she thought I couldn’t drive. On the way home, I get pulled over for speeding. The cop asked if I had anything to drink. I told him a few glasses of wine. He makes me do the sobriety tests on the side of the road. I am pretty sure I passed them all, he made me do all 6 (which my lawyer said probably means I did ok on them) and did the breathalyzer. I got arrested and was told my BAC was at .17! No way! I would be falling down if I were that intoxicated! In NY the machines are calibrated to not take into account age, sex, size. Also, I am in the middle of dental work, so it’s very possible I had "mouth alcohol" which from what I have read can double your BAC. Opinions? No judgement please, I know I did wrong

About a month ago I was coming home and got into an accident hitting a light post. I was still able to drive my vehicle home and nobody was hurt. When I got home, my friends and I began to drink heavily. An hour or so passed and a cop showed up at my place because someone had called in the accident. The cop took me downtown and gave me a breathilizer. I blew .23, so obviously i was over the limit, but I wasnt driving, i was in my home. The cop arrested me for drunk driving and i went to jail. I was released without being charged, but i just found out today, almost a month later, that I have been charged. I am in the processes of finding a lawyer, but can they really charge me when I wast caught driving? I dont thinlk this case will hold up, what do u think? I honestly beleive that I was under the limit when i was infact driving, and how can they charge me with my BAC when I was obviouosly drinking alot at home? does anyone have an opinion?

btw, this is my first offense.. actually it’s my first violation of any kind. I have a clean record!

I have 6 days left to drive with license..after that it will be revoked for 3 months or get reistatement for 0 plus .50 fee…can I get it after 7 days expired? Or do i have to wait till court date? Should I hire lawyer? many people said they arent worth. My BAC was .16 please help me thank you for your time

I was arrested for my first (and LAST) DWI this past March in St. Louis County, Missouri. I have no prior convictions…in fact, my record is completely clean. My BAC that night was a .12.

I had an attorney and everything was going fine, until I lost my job and I was not able to pay him. He had to withdraw from the case, and now here I am with a court date TODAY with no attorney.

The administrative (license) side of the case is done, and I am on the tail end of my suspension. He said most of the work for the criminal side is finished, but I have no idea what that means.

I was told to request a continuance tonight in court, to try to get some more time to find a new lawyer. I now have a new job and can afford one, but I just need more time.

So, my question is, what are my options? When I go in there, what is the standard etiquette and procedure and whatnot involved in requesting a continuance? Am I eligible to be appointed a public defender?

I’ve never been to any kind of court before, not even for a speeding ticket. So, I’m completely clueless about what to expect and I’m very nervous about going in there by myself.

I got a dwi with a .08 BAC.. the fact that i did drink and drive is wrong! the fact that i had 1 or 2 drinks doesnt matter right? i want to do the right thing and not waste my energy and faith by getting a lawyer trying to prove that i was not guilty, even when inside i do feel guilty, its against the law and everyone knows the drinking and driving does no good to anyone. so i am going with my gut and conscious and plea guilty.
i just need help to say the right words. thanks anyother suggestions are appreciated

I would really like to become a law enforcement officer. But i have a DWI on my record. I received the DWI when i was 18 and it was under the not-a-drop law. I blew a .04 on the BAC. I am 20 now and would like to know if it’s worth it to pursue.

I cant afford a lawyer so i am representing myself in the court in Fairfax county, VA. i got a DWI last month with a bac of .08.

i dont want to plea guilty but i am going to as i just want to get it out of my way. please help me? as what i am supposed to do or say in front of the judge. i am very nervous about this and also let me know if i have any other options.

I got a DUI/DWI in howard county Maryland. This is my first offense relating to any drunk driving charges. I am truly very sorry and never ever intend to get behind the wheel after this one. My BAC was .19, what are the average fees I am looking at to get out of this one?

About a month ago i got stop, and receive a DUI my BAC was 0.1, and in california the limit is 0.08. I am not sure if i should hire an attorney i have clean record. Has anyone got an attorney, and benefit from it or has anyone got and attorney and totally not worth your money.

I got a DWI last night. My BAC was .08 and that is the limit in Minnesota. When I asked for a blood test the agency said that they would not provide that. I would have to pay to be transported to a different city. Can they do that? Should I get a lawyer?

First time DUI, BAC is gonna be higher than .20%.
Also a hit n run misdemeanor. Property damage should be no more than 0.
Need a damn good attorney, money is not an issue i just need the lowest possible sentence.

i cant afford a lawyer and i cant get qualified for a public defender. most lawyer in this area( fairfax, va) charge about 1200 to 1500. i am a single father barely making to get by i need a lawyer badly but cant afford more than 600 $. if anyone knows a resonable layer please let me know. or if there is another option ? thanks

p.s… DWI in fairfax county, VA / BAC : .08 / first offense / already have been to the court and got a continuance.

i was pulled over for dwi…first offense (.11 BAC) i have the name of a lawyer who is supposed to be the best but he’s 5,500 plus fees for expert witness etc. another lawyer, who i don’t have any info on, is 2,500. i’m unemployed..i need the charge to go away but is spending more on the lawyer more of a guarantee of a better outcome?
