my boyfriend has been having terrible back pain from a pinched sciatic nerve for the past week. he has a hard time getting up from a sitting position, bending over and lately hasnt even been able to pick up our 17 month old daughter. we cannot afford to send him to a chiropractor or a doctor so does anyone know of any stretches or homeopathic remedies that would help relieve some of the pain? thank you!

I am 15 years old with degenerative disc disorder/extreme back pain. I can barley do day to day activities. i have tried anti-inflamitory drugs both OTC and prescription, with no help at all. Do you think i could be prescribed painkillers? I am not trying to just get messed up on them or anything i can barely walk anymore.

i slipped on the tub a month ago and i had this bad back pain whenever i bend my back like when im putting my jeans on or my socks. so i went to see my doctor. he told me to take this meds for one week and said if the pain is still there, then i shud go get an xray. so a week passed and the pain subsided so i never got the xray. now, i have this back pain again, its not that painful compared to the one i had before. bt it radiates down to the back of my thighs. im seeing my doctor in the nex 2 days bt i jst want to have an idea wht this cud be. is it a herniated disc? or sumthin else? thanks for ur answers. realy appreciate it!

My son was sent to the hospital by ambulance, where they did a CAT scan, many xrays, and an EKG. He was sent home with perscriptions and told to see his doctor in 3 - 5 days. He went to his doc, and still has neck and back pain and fluid on his right knee….translation…more dr’s apts and more meds. My son is 22 years old, just out of the Marines with plans to go to college in the fall…he has a part time job that does not come with sick leave, so every day he misses is out of pocket.
A few facts: My son was not at fault (was not ticketed for any violation)
The other auto/driver thought it was a 4-way stop and pulled out in front of him. Also he was in a company pickup, so is a company insurance we are working with.

I guess my question is, will he recieve a settlement from the insurance company? Do we need to get a lawyer, or is it too soon to know? When should we get a lawyer if we need to?

My back pain over a year led the dr. to order an MRI and after review he notice bulge at L4-L5 bulge and L5-S1 protrusion. What does this mean? I have an appt to talk with him on Monday, and he has a script for me to get physical therapy and a back brace (Fla V loc Lso) this thing cost over 0! WOW. Will it help? What about phys therapy? I do construction type work and my season is about to start in a month. I know I’ll have to baby my back but I gotta be able to work. Anyone have any bulges like this? I am on Pain meds for the constant pain, and I pray that this doesnt cause me any loss of work or more pain. Will i heal? and how long should it or could it take?

From what Ive read, this disc should cause sciatica pain, and i have none. It hurts when I sit or lift..other than that i feel Ok.

I got a herniated disc when I was 17 and now I am 21. 90% of the pain has went away, naturally. My neurosurgeon did not want to operate on me. I used to have sciatics on both right and left leg, but now it is only left leg. MRI showed impingment on right nerve, never on left nerve (go figure). I haven’t taken an MRI within last 2 years. Within 1st year herniated disc was large. 2nd year, took MRI and herniated disc dried up and decreased by 50%. I do not have any back pain, but sometimes it hurts and goes away next day. I do not have pain upon flexion, but some on extension. Also, I recently starting stretching my hamstring to gain flexibility. I have gained flexibility, but my sciatica went from minimal pain (sciatica never went completely away, permenant nerve damage?), to low pain (meaning it went up a little, to the point where i notice it now).

What is wrong? Is this permanent nerve damage?

im 15. fit. and doctor said i have a slipped disc on my c4-c5. if that makes sense. and i BMX alot. and i want to be pro at it. i have some questions because this is serious for me…
will i recover 100% (meaning i can do all the same things i could before with out any back pain like BMXing)
how long till i can if i can.
i dont have any symtpons of it pinching my nerve but i get a ct scan soon.

all i really want to know if i can bike because if i cant then i know ill end up biking anyways and ill hurt myself. my life goal is to be a pro biker. if i cant do what i always wanted till i could remeber then im just going hurt myself. ill force myself to bike if i have to. i just need to know if i would recover 100% so i can live a good life and bike..

Im 32 weeks prego with my 2nd baby. With my first I had terrible back labor, starting around 29 weeks. With drugs we were able to hold it off untill 39 weeks. Right now I am having some discomfort in my lower back, it isnt as intense as my first ones back labor, but it is more than a normal sore back… I havent been having any noticeable contractions, but I cant help but feel that this pain is something I shouldnt look away from. I called my doc, and he said not to worry, nothing is happening. It just doesnt seem right. Have any of you gone into any kind of labor without noticing the first contractions, and having this same odd dull back pain? If you think it is nothing to worry about what can I do other than Tylenol to help the pain, I was told heating pads are something that shouldnt be used right now… Is that true? Lying in any positon fails to help the pain. Anything and everything will be a big help.
Hubby cant massage my back, he has MS so he is to weak to massage. (he’s so weak I was suprised we were able to make this baby!) Oh well… any other suggestions?

ok so i have liek serious back pain and stupid doctors never made a diagnosis. i have no reason to go to a doctor because the pain isnt constant. And my mom doesnt think i should go either (btw im like 14). When the pain is bad and i take an ibprofen, it makes it feel better but the pain is still there… what could this b and what should i do about it?
by the way, i went to a doctor before about all this and they took an MRI. they never told me ANYTHING about what was going on…

My lower back hurts incredibly badly from sitting down for long periods of time. I am working on a paper now, and will be for the next few hours, yet my back hurts so badly I can hardly concentrate. What can I do aside from taking pain killers to make it stop hurting? Is it normal to get such bad back pain from sitting for about 4/5 hrs? Any suggestions? My neck also starts to hurt but it isn’t as bad as my back…

I have hip and back pain after giving birth. Occurs mostly when I sit to feed my baby, but then also other times when I am doing usual activity.

The Dr. said it is normal due to pregnancy for a couple months after but mine started only a couple months after.

He also said that the back pain could be around the area of the spinal. The hip pain is th most bothersome… I’m too young to have all thse aches and pains! What can I do to combat them?
The pains started 2 months after I had the baby.

I have large breasts (34E), but I’ve never had any back pain from them. At home I sleep on a firm mattress, but when I go home to visit my family or stay in hotels I have to sleep on softer mattresses and I always wake up with my back hurting. I’m not fat, I just have big boobs. Could the back pain be from my breasts, or is there another reason?

I’ve been having general back pain for the last 2 years or so. I have been diagnosed with scoliosis, but it is mild enough that my doctor would not recommend PT. However, the pain is a dull ache throughout my back, worsening in the lumbar (lower) section. Can someone please recommend any effect home remedies, exercises or anything else that might reduce the pain?
