After my back surgery they used Dermabond on me which is like superglue. I do not have any scars from my surgery.

Anyone have a lumbar laminectomy?

My fiance had his 4th back surgery. This time they removed a section of the lamina in his lumbar spine to relieve the pressure on the nerves. He now has a bony lump (which is getting worse) at the top of his incision. Is this normal after this type of surgery? It is extremely painful when it’s touched and he’s 3 weeks out of surgery. The docs said they would need to watch the stability of his spine after this surgery, is this an indication that it’s weakening or just a normal lump from the removal?

I had a disc removed and a titanium plate put in my lower back June 11th. I feel better as far as the incision goes but am curious how long until I can hope for some relief in my back. What is normal for surgery recovery on a back surgery to feel if the surgery worked.

Back Surgery?

I am about to have my second back surgery in 5 years. What are the chances that I will return to work. I have a desk job, but i am really in alot of pain. Do I need to start looking at long term disability?

I had a Lumbar Laminectomy back surgery and that didn’t work. That surgery was done in 04 on my L5 disk now they want to do a anterior and a posteriorfusion. But I’m afraid because I’m overweight and the first surgery didn’t help. I don’t want to keep going under the knife in fear that something may go wrong. And this is a work injury so you have to wonder if maybe the doctor’s are saying surgery just because.

I am having very serious spinal fusion back surgery in a little over a month. The surgery will fuse many vertebraes in my back, because I have progressive scoliosis. I am well aware that consuming tobbacco products are bad to use leading up to this surgery because it impedes the ability for a healthy recovery, because of nicotine. Does the same go for marijuana? Is it bad to smoke marijuana in the time leading up to this surgery?

What are some things that I should get or do to make life easy after my back surgery? I have scoliosis and am getting surgery on the 22nd and need some tips and advice. Thank you!

Not sure if I was clear, but this is a BONY lump on his spine that wasn’t there before. It’s getting bigger, it’s solid bone.

I was involved in a motor vehicle accident about 2 years ago and have a spinal cord injury that made me a paraplegic for now. I have been through rehab and in the hospital they gave me bachlophen because it helps with spasms in which I can’t control in my legs, and my legs are pretty strong so they are pretty annoying spasms. But I was taking Bacholophen I was taking was 60 mg and doing hardly anything except put me to sleep, so I stop taking it. I just got another back surgery and the nurse suggested Valium for spasms, and it works great, the only thing is, is that is valium so I’m not always in my right state of mind and I don’t want to escape reality just to not have leg spasms, does anyone know of any drugs or exercises to help control spasms that don’t have a lot of side effects. I’ve gone from one extreme to another, but now Valium I heard is not such a good thing to be on all the time. Can anyone help?
Right now I’m taking 5 mg in the morning and 2.5 at noon and 2.5 mg at night, so 10mg total per day. Is that alot?

i have a pinched sciatic nerve?

Okay, i went to the doctor and got diagnosed with a pinched sciatic nerve in the back of my upper thigh. the pain is terrible and everyone that i’ve talked to has said that back surgery is the only option to remove the pain. i have heard of muscle therapy but i’m afraid that it wouldn’t work, but i don’t want surgery to be my only option… is there anyone out there that has had this problem and fixed it without using a scalpel? and if yes, what did you do?

Besides Florida’s laser back surgery center and the not yet opened place in Arizonia, as it’s for my Mother, who refuses to leave town.
