I have a bulging disc, what can i still do?

I have a bulging disk between my L4 & L5 and my doctor told me the only way to help would be bed rest and anti-inflammatory medications. I am a dancer and take a Hip Hop class once a week for about 2 hours. I want to continue dancing even though my doctor does not want me to. Is there any activities similar to dance that I can do that won’t bother my disk? I’m always active and I need something to do.

Help heal a bulging disc?

LOTS of pain….

LOTS

its like dull grinding pain….GRIND GRIND GRIND
but I refuse to take steroid or epidural shots at my discs
I’m a full time college student with 2 jobs…no.
I don’t take pills either….side effects….no thanks.

So I see a chiropractor for those bed machine-back rubs.
and i sleep/walk/breathe in pain
[i don't understand what a chiropractor's purpose in life is]

For anyone who has had a bulging disc…is it possible for me to do lots of bed rest and light work
and in 2 months start working on regenerating? Like….exercising and building muscles to make the back stronger?

Cause sleeping too much will make the muscles weaker. So confused.

is this an issue? It’s a clear fluid.
To add on, I was diagnosed with viral meningitis. I’ve been on mandatory bed rest for a month, starting 11 days ago. My back pain and migraines went away, now they are starting to come back. But I also don’t have anymore percocet either.
It’s not leaking alot, it’s just wet.

Bulging disc question….?

I don’t feel crazy pain..but I’ve been having bed rest
I get physical therapy 3x a week with the bed vibrators/rollers/massagers for 2 months now to "prevent." If I don’t do these things…I have muscle spasms.

My MRI results after a bad car accident show a L5 (lower back) bulging disc which is a bit more severe because it hits the nerves (but I don’t feel leg or arm pain)

and a C6-C7 bulging disc with tissue abnormality. What is tissue abnormality…does that mean it could lead to cancer?

I also sleep on a cervical pillow. (very comfy I might add!)
I refuse to take those steroid/hormone shots or pills.

Do bulging discs stay bulged for eternity? They can’t go back cause the space between them has tightened…so doesn’t that mean you lose more inches in your height? I got taller in the past month.

Could I ever play sports or dance again?

I have so much questions lol. Basically if you have personal experience, care to share?

I’m 18.
car accident happened in December of 2008.

Is a bulging disc supposed to be painful?

I was seeing an orthopedic specialist because my dr originally thought that I had hip displaysia but when the specialist did furhter testing, he saw nothing wrong with my hips and diagnosed me with a bulging disc which showed up on an MRI of my spine. But he more or less said that I shouldn’t be feeling much pain if any and made feel completely stupid for going to him which wasn’t my choice anyway. So i’m just wondering if this is normally painful or if there could be something else wrong.
I’ve been having this pain for about 9 years, however it got much worse when I was carrying my twins and now that they’re 5 months old, its worse than its ever been. I can’t go on bed rest because my husband is deployed so there isn’t anyone to look after the babies and I really get worried because lately my right leg has been giving out under me and it happens a lot when i’m carrying my children but the dr. won’t listen to me, he just keeps shrugging it off as nothing. I can’t count how many times i’ve almost fallen down the stairs with my baby or babies in my arms because of my leg giving out with no warning. It really makes me mad and I don’t know if i’m over reacting or not but I really want to call my insurance company and file a complaint on this dr. I don’t even want to think about surgery as i’m really afraid of being put under not to mention the recovery period and right now i’m all that my kids have so I can’t even consider it at this point. I just don’t know what to do.

Pinched nerve?

Have any of you had a pinched nerve in your back because you were/are pregnant? I am 5 months pregnant and in so much pain sometimes I can’t even walk. Does this go away while you are still pregnant or does it go away after you have the baby. If this keeps up can the doctor put me on bed rest or something? It is extremely hard to sit here at my desk and work when I am in so much pain. Also, I haven’t and don’t want to take any sort of medicine while pregnant or use heating pads so any home remedies would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
P.S. I have already gone to the doctor and she said it would have to run its course.

what can you do about a pinched nerve

My dad pinched a nerve in his back and can barley get out of bed. I am currently on bed rest so I cant go over there to help him out, but I wanted to know if there is anything he can do to help his back?

My friend’s back is really, really bad. He has a slipped disc and fractured spine. He was kept in the hospital for about a week. He wants to start Physical Therapy right away but I would think he needs more bed rest at home. What do you think?

My dachshund Dexter has a slipped disc. He was on bed rest for a couple weeks and the past week or so I’ve been doing exercises with him in the bathtub. Anyway he is starting to walk. Before he would just drag his legs, now he puts his back legs up as normal but after a few steps they wobble like he is unsteady and usually he plops down, then gets back up. Is this normal? I’ve had to carry him to the grass a ways from my apartment because he’s still dragging a bit and on the concrete it hurts his skin.

Will he always be a bit wobbly like this? I hope it will get better..it will be probably not be completely gone but enough that he’s able to walk more easily..are there any other exercises I should do with him besides the bathtub to get his back legs strong again (ive noticed he has put on a bit of muscle). Should I encourage him to move as much as possible inside (on the carpet)? Thank you
yes Ive seen the vet twice (once right after he slipped the disc and the last time about 2 weeks ago)

I am 8 months pregnant with severe back pain. My doc has put me on bed rest because of my edema and it feels as though the longer I sit or lay the worse my back hurts. What can I do? I feel as though I am in a no win situation.

My husband has a herniated disc in lower back (I think L5). He has been in pain for about 6 months. Physical Therapy did not help. He had two of the three scheduled steroid injections and he actually got worse after the third. Right now he is on bed rest. He takes Flexaril, Hydrocodine, Tramadol and an antiflammitory (don’t remember which one). It just seems to keep getting worse.
