I have a bulging disc in my L4/L5, and L5/S1. I have had two epidurals, but none of them really worked. The pain shoots down my leg and through my hamstring and peraformis (sp?) muscle along the sciatic (sp?) nerve. I bought an inversion table, which helped a little bit, but still have back pain whenever I stand or sit. Ugh! I’m open to any suggestions that anyone might have, short of putting a bullet in my head to end my chroic pain :)

P.S. I know what some of you are thinking and you don’t have a clue what your talking about. Someday if your really lucky, you’ll get e herniated disc or bulging disc and have it crush your nerve and make you want to die and wish for it everyday. I truely hope that the ones that ( think ) i’m a drug user get a herniated disc someday and can feel my pain.

Hi,

Since 1997, I have been experiencing significant pain in my SI Joint. The pain was originally in the SI Joint, however it eventually affected other areas of my body because of overcompensation. I have seen many different types of doctors and had many different opinion but to no avail. I have also had many types of tests taken but no finding. The pain and spasm in my SI joint can be debilitating at times; sometimes I speculate it is a bulging disk, however the MRI I took over six years only showed a small bulge which is normal for a former athlete, and I was told it was not what was causing my symptoms. M symptoms include SI joint pain, tightness and occassional pain in one or both gluteals, and when this happens, I can have tightness in my quads and calves, but no sciatic type of pain. My question is it possible to have a bulging disc in your SI region but not have the radiating pain associating with a bulging disc/sciatica? Thanks.

Help for sciatic nerve pain due to bulging disc.?

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to help relieve sciatic nerve pain? I have been in pain for over a week after lifting something and hurting my back. The doctors say I have a bulging disc that is pressing on my sciatic nerve. I don’t have much back pain, but the pain that runs down my leg is almost crippling at times. It alternates between hurting at my hip/butt, behind my knee, or in my calf. I need help!

I have been doing traction therapy at the chiropractor, and have been taking anti-inflamatory meds.

Starting to get a bit cheesed off. Was diagnosed initially with a shoulder tear, back spasm and over the last 3 weeks been going to physio for a suspected bulging disc in my neck (c4/c7?). The pain is lessening slowly but is always worse at and during the night. Has anyone been through this? how long did it take before being able to get back to full physical exercise e.g. gym and did you you have any x-rays/scans?
I am not good at being immobile hence the questions

I injured my lower disc in my back and over the years it went from a bulging disc to a herniated disc. Since the day I felt that pop I seem to have chronic nerve pain that goes from the lower back down my leg and in to my foot. it seems to hurt constantly and if I have to do anything besides laying in bed it is much worse to the point that after a few days of work I am bed ridden again. I’ve been to the doctors, surgeons, neurologists and the only thing they offer is pain meds which give me some relief but not enough to have a normal, mildly even, active day. I also found using the Dr Ho Tens machine gives me some relief but not enough to function. Does anyone have any suggestions and has anyone had botox injections for such pain?
Botox was suggested by a specialist to block nerve pain somehow. it isn’t covered by OHIP and I’m reluctant to pay for something I’m unsure of. I have been to surgeons and been denied so I have to find an alternative way to deal with this pain. I currently take strong pain meds which give some relief but still have a great deal of pain at all times and especially when standing and even sitting. I also will wake through he night constantly and have to change positions and prop pillows. thanks for suggestions.

How can I fix a bulging disc? Back pain?

I was in a car wreck and hurt my back- A LOT. I had an MRI done and discovered a bulging disc and degenerative disc disease in the same area (lower back). My first question is Could the car wreck have caused the bulging disc? I was told that is something an injury could not cause. Also it is causing a horrible pain down my leg and it goes numb a lot. Which I was told a bulging disc doesn’t hurt- ha!
Now I have been off work for 2 months and I’m worried I’ll loose my home. I’m hoping for something that will fix my back and quick. Please let me know if you have experience in this, thank you so much. I’m worried about surgery and/or being off work any longer.
(The Insurance from the Car wreck won’t pay anything until I’m all better and back to work.)
Thank you, I do have a lawyer which will help after I’m all better.

Pain relief for a bulging disc while pregnant?

Is there anything? Only aloud to take Tylenol… Pain radiates to both hips and down right leg. I’m positive it’s not just pregnancy aches. I have had 2 bulging disc before. Excercise that doesn’t direct me to lay on my belly? Not many but up for suggestions.

I was in a car accident 2 months ago. I did not brace myself for the accident; I didn’t see it coming. I am in a tremendous amount of pain in both my arms, neck, shoulders, and hands. The pain is stabbing, sometimes pins/needles, and it hurts to hold/grip on object even as light as a glass of water or a magazine. On occasion I get lower back pain. I have never had any injuries prior to this accident and I am only 22 years old. I have been seeing a Chiropractor, massage therapist, doing physical therapy and seeing my MD. I had an MRI done which shows a bulging disc in C-5/C-6 area. Nothing seems to be making the pain go away; not even muscle relaxers. My MD says its just muscle strain, but my Chiropractor says its from the bulging disc. Personally, I don’t see how it could be muscle strain because I did not brace myself for the accident. Both doctor’s have seen the MRI report. I am going to see an Orthopedic Surgeon, but not for a couple of months. Is there any way to tell whether it is disc pain or muscle injury?

I had been having pain/tingling in my left leg all the way to my foot so I seen the doctor and he did an mri and they diagnosed me with a bulging disc in my lower back and prescribed physical therapy. I havnt had my first appt yet but this morning I woke up and my left leg doesnt hurt but now my right leg hurts all the way to my foot. Does anyone know if this is normal with a bulging disc or could it be a sign that things are getting worse/better?
o.k so now a day later I’m having pain in both legs and in my lower back. Again should I be concerned?
