When I was 14, a disc slipped at the bottom of my back. Before this I did regular sport (especially netball), and stayed very slim as I burnt off all my fat and was toned. I was 5ft 7" and about 7 and a half to 8 stone. I was very healthy. After hurting my back I stopped sport for a couple of years, and am now too scared to go back to it like I did because I can’t play with the effort I did before due to the fear of putting my back out. I’m now 20, 5ft 7 and am getting towards 9 and a half stone. I really want to get down to 8 and a half. My diet is also atrocious, and also my sleeping patterns. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Herniated L4-L5 disc with sciatic pain down left leg and foot, moderate to severe at times. Have tried 2 shots and oral meds, no real pain relief, physical therapy with traction provides temporary relief. What options are left and how to avoid surgery? Am a busy self employed contractor and am unable to take the time off work for surgery. Not to mention fear of the surgery and complications. Any advice will help at this point…Thanks
