My friend is in jail today for driving drunk. The police officer said she will be transfer over to a courthouse tomorrow morning and I was wondering if they will make her plea or will it just be a meeting with the judge to arrange a court date? When does she have to plea and how would she plea? Not guilty, guilty? How much money will this end up costing her? This is her first offense. Will her license be suspended?

I was out the other nite having a few drinks with my buddies. I got in the car and started to drive home. At first I seemed OK, but then I realized I was drunk and can not drive. So I pulled out of the first exit I saw and pulled into a McDonald’s parking lot. I ‘d figured I’d rest and sober up. I fell asleep in the car and was awoken by an officer tapping on the window. He asked me what I was doing. I told him I was resting because I was drunk and couldn’t drive home. I told him I came from a bar that was about 1/2 mile away. He’d asked me to take a sobriety test. I said I’m drunk and too tired. Its about 3 am. He then cuffed and took me to the station. I took a BAC test at the station and blew 0.18. Now this is my first offense ever. I’ve never been arrested, I had only 1 speeding ticket in the last 5 years. I made a terrible mistake that night thinking I was able to drive home. Should I hire a lawyer? The officer didn’t see me drive at all. How does it look for me?
I live in the state of MA. The arrest took place in NH. There is no citation # on the order and condition of bail. How much would a lawyer be for this type of case?

I had 3 glasses of wine (on an empty stomach. I hadn’t eaten for 6+ hours. My friend and I were there for probably 4 hours. She walked with me out to my car and she later said that I walked in a straight line and didn’t have slurred speech, etc. She would have stopped me if she thought I couldn’t drive. On the way home, I get pulled over for speeding. The cop asked if I had anything to drink. I told him a few glasses of wine. He makes me do the sobriety tests on the side of the road. I am pretty sure I passed them all, he made me do all 6 (which my lawyer said probably means I did ok on them) and did the breathalyzer. I got arrested and was told my BAC was at .17! No way! I would be falling down if I were that intoxicated! In NY the machines are calibrated to not take into account age, sex, size. Also, I am in the middle of dental work, so it’s very possible I had "mouth alcohol" which from what I have read can double your BAC. Opinions? No judgement please, I know I did wrong
btw, this is my first offense.. actually it’s my first violation of any kind. I have a clean record!

He went to his first court date with a lawyer but could not afford to pay for the lawyer. So he is now going to court with out one. Will they appoint him a public deffender or will they arrest him. He is going for a DWI first offense

Last weekend I got a DWI in Fairfax Virginia. I blew a .14 and I have a clean driving record and this was my first offense. I’m willing to spend up to 10 thousand dollars to get out of this with a LAWYER. Do you think I’ll have Jail time? 27 years ago first offense and clean driving record….Please Help ME …anyone else been threw this?

my ex fil has had several instances where he’s been pulled over drunk.. Had work only driving privledges and even had to stay a weekend in what we called ‘Camp Burton’ basically jail-like setting where you learn about the hazards of drunk driving and how to get help to quit.. ect ect.
To the best of my knowledge he’s been caught 4 times driving drunk.. I know he had at least 1 dui on his record…
Now his entire driving record is clean.. No court record exists of him ever getting even a speeding ticket, let alone dui..
His son fathered my daughter.. and he’s been in alot of trouble this year and the same judge has been dismissing all his cases.. I’m just wondering how all their bad behavior is getting pardoned.

It was my first offense. I was an idiot for driving intoxicated, I know. It will never happen again, but do DWIs usually come with three court dates? I am very confused. I am meeting with my lawyer later to settle this out, but does anyone know ahead? Thanks.

I recently received a DWI conviction in S. Jersey (my first offense) and was wondering how much local insurance companies will raise my rate? If anyone has experienced this I’d really appreciate knowing how much their rates rose. Also, is there any certain companies that give better rates to those who have DWI convictions? I appreciate any help.

One paper says June 2, June 4, and June 12. Why so many court dates? Also, my lawyer is coming. Will have I have to stand and talk? This was my first DWI and first offense- how long will my license be suspended. I’m sorry while driving while intoxicated, by the way. That my mistake and I learned from it.

When the police pulled me over I blew a .07 and he wanted me to blow again. I refused because he said I will get arrested whether I blow or not. And so, he arrested me and I blew a .13 at the station. I pleaded not guilty and now I have to be there in August. I blew a .117 and told the cops i had been drinking my friend in ny says that i don’t have anything to worry about because this is my first offense but i’m very worried. I was recently arrested for 4th degree DWI. This is a first offense for me. I was pulled over for not having front plates on my car and was given a sobriety test which I failed. I blew a .11 and the legal limit is .08 in my state. I signed all of the papers that were given to me at the police station so this seems like a pretty open and shut case. would it benefit me to get a lawyer? I would hate to spend all that money just to find out that there is nothing that he can do for me.

I got a DUI/DWI in howard county Maryland. This is my first offense relating to any drunk driving charges. I am truly very sorry and never ever intend to get behind the wheel after this one. My BAC was .19, what are the average fees I am looking at to get out of this one?
