I just got a dui. They have made new laws and I’m not sure what they are or how to find out. Is it worth hiring an attorney or a waste of money? I blew a .14 in Sacramento ca. It’s my first offense and I’m 22.

Here’s the deal:
1. he made an illegal U-turn in Los Angeles
2. another car hit him
3. he didn’t have car insurance
4. he had a 0.14 BAL
5. no known injuries
6. this is his first offense.
7. he is charged with a Felony DUI (not misdemeanor)
Does anyone know how to find a good lawyer who is not going to rip him off? Has anyone had a story similar to this? Do you know the cost of a specific attorney in Los Angeles County that you can recommend?

I just got a DWI last night, I blew a .15. I am very sorry for what I did but now the only thing I am really worried about is my job. I have just been promoted to travel around the united states and educate clients. This is in Wisconsin that this happened and it looks like it is mandatory to take away a license for 6 months on first offense. How hard is it to obtain a work license? Should I get a lawyer? If I don’t get a lawyer is the judge going to even listen to my work situation? Any suggestions?
Well I looked into it and I guess im not so fucked.
I will still have to pay 1000 dollars totalish after the court fees and whatnot but then I can apply for a occupational license and put down my work area as every state. If the car rental places dont take it I guess ill have to take a taxi. My main license will be revoked for 6 months. As of now I don’t see a reason to tell my work because I don’t believe they need to know.

I am 25 and was charged with a DWI last night. I was very cooperative, told the officer I was drinking, he searched my car and found nothing, I submitted to three tests and blew a .08. This is my first offense and I will not do this again. I am the only one in my house who can drive. I have joint custody of my son and driving is the only way I can get him. Is there any way I can have my charge lessened or made to where I have limited driving privledges. I cannot afford a lawyer but would be more than willing to submit to a substance program or more. What are my options?

I am so glad that I did not hurt anybody or myself. So I dont need the run around thank you!
What do they ask?
Do you make a personal statement?
Guilty or no contest?
etc. I would appreciate anything.
Thank you
UPDATE! I had court this morning and everything went just fine. I talked to the DA and she said that it is pointless to get an attorney unless you blew between a .08-.10 or if its not your first offense. She said the judges have a standard punishment they give everyone for their 1st offense.

Like if it was your first offense and you were arrested for driving drunk and they found a couple of ounces of marijuana in the car? What is the sentence for that in the state of Illinois? And also if someone gets arrested today, would they be able to get out tomorrow morning or do they have to wait until they go to court to set bail? And can you visit them before then as well?

My bf recently got a dwi it’s his first offense and he is also in the military. He was also charged for possession of drugs, he currently lives in texas but will be stationed in another city in texas. What steps would he have to take in order to clear the dwi or to be able to stay in the military and live in another city?

My friend is in jail today for driving drunk. The police officer said she will be transfer over to a courthouse tomorrow morning and I was wondering if they will make her plea or will it just be a meeting with the judge to arrange a court date? When does she have to plea and how would she plea? Not guilty, guilty? How much money will this end up costing her? This is her first offense. Will her license be suspended?

I was out the other nite having a few drinks with my buddies. I got in the car and started to drive home. At first I seemed OK, but then I realized I was drunk and can not drive. So I pulled out of the first exit I saw and pulled into a McDonald’s parking lot. I ‘d figured I’d rest and sober up. I fell asleep in the car and was awoken by an officer tapping on the window. He asked me what I was doing. I told him I was resting because I was drunk and couldn’t drive home. I told him I came from a bar that was about 1/2 mile away. He’d asked me to take a sobriety test. I said I’m drunk and too tired. Its about 3 am. He then cuffed and took me to the station. I took a BAC test at the station and blew 0.18. Now this is my first offense ever. I’ve never been arrested, I had only 1 speeding ticket in the last 5 years. I made a terrible mistake that night thinking I was able to drive home. Should I hire a lawyer? The officer didn’t see me drive at all. How does it look for me?
I live in the state of MA. The arrest took place in NH. There is no citation # on the order and condition of bail. How much would a lawyer be for this type of case?

I had 3 glasses of wine (on an empty stomach. I hadn’t eaten for 6+ hours. My friend and I were there for probably 4 hours. She walked with me out to my car and she later said that I walked in a straight line and didn’t have slurred speech, etc. She would have stopped me if she thought I couldn’t drive. On the way home, I get pulled over for speeding. The cop asked if I had anything to drink. I told him a few glasses of wine. He makes me do the sobriety tests on the side of the road. I am pretty sure I passed them all, he made me do all 6 (which my lawyer said probably means I did ok on them) and did the breathalyzer. I got arrested and was told my BAC was at .17! No way! I would be falling down if I were that intoxicated! In NY the machines are calibrated to not take into account age, sex, size. Also, I am in the middle of dental work, so it’s very possible I had "mouth alcohol" which from what I have read can double your BAC. Opinions? No judgement please, I know I did wrong
btw, this is my first offense.. actually it’s my first violation of any kind. I have a clean record!
The Intoxylizer is the one they used on me.
