I’m happy with generalities, but if anyone has info specific to NY, that’d be helpful. I am curious really about two things: (1) Do doctors typically carry separate insurance beyond what is covered under the hospital’s insurance policy? (2) Does the hospital provide a separate policy for each individual doctor or clinic, or is it one big pool for the whole hospital?
I am aware of a situation in which a hospital’s insurance is about to be expended, but there are ongoing claims against individual doctors.

health insurer pay for any injuries sustained in an accident. I prefer to have my health insurer pay since the insurance policy I have right now does not reguire referrals. I have been told that if a passenger in my car suffers injuries and they don’t have auto insurance and I have selected the health insurer option, then the auto insurer does not have to pay for the passenger’s injuries and I am liable. Is this true? I don’t expect anything to happen, but I want to pick the right option on my auto insurance form.

i was told that if you were involved in car accident and had catastrophic injuries due to the other drivers negligence you could be paid more than insurance policy limit by the insurance company because the injury was catastrophic. is this true. i thought insurance company was only liable for its limit and that was it.

My boyfriend and I got into an accident, where he was at fault. Although he was the driver, the car’s mine and I’m insured under it. I’ve already filed an insurance claim and I’m getting an appraisal right now. The car had extreme damage to the front (hood crushed, bumper torn out, headlights busted, grille pushed in, radiator cracked, and antifreeze liquid leeking out). The car is a 2006 Toyota Avalon w/ 24,000 miles on it. Is it possible that it’s totaled?
It’s been days since the accident and we’re both suffering back and neck pain. If we go to a chiropractor, how will the insurance money be paid out? Also, how does the Personal Injury Protection coverage work? Is it the same as pain & suffering? Do you ever come up short with money for the bills? I’m real clueless as to how this ordeal will work out. Help!
Also, we both have Allstate. Is there any way to transfer this to his insurance policy since he was the driver?

I’m in a messed up situation.I was involved in an auto accident, the person at fault was excluded from the insurance policy on the vehicle, that being said, Fred Loya Insurance will not cover for any of my damages. I also went to an injury clinic because the personnel there convinced me that the insurance would pay. So now i have a wrecked car, with a medical bill on top of that, and have no auto insurance either. What can i do to get my damages covered? i’m from texas by the way.

I was in an auto accident and hired a lawyer to represent me. The insurance companies are (mine & the other motorist) are investgating in order to determine who is at fault… Meanwhile, I’m asking my attorney to see if the other motorist has full coverage, liability, etc… so I can have an idea as to how things are going to play themselves out in regards to my medical bills, and other compensation, etc… The attorney claims that he can’t get the details of the other motorist’s insurance policy to answer my questions. This doesn’t sound right to me. Shouldn’t he, not only be able to obtain their policy, but be working diligently, early on in the process, to obtain this information so he can guage the "possible" compensation that, not only myself, but the docter & himself (the lawyer) may receive? …my injury is a life altering injury and I need to know what options I have in regards to my medical & all other compensation I may be entitled to. I am not the type to blindly allow my lawyer to do as he chooses, while I remain in the dark as to the facts regarding my situation. Please enlighten me…

I about just had a question liability. I had an automotive accident the other day. There is the possiblity of an injury in the other party; the accident was my fault. My insurance covers up to only ,000 for personal injuries. Suppose that the opposing party needs a significant amount over that. I am an 18 year old without much money. Are my parents liable/are they required to fork out the money? I am dependent under them by law and we are all on the same insurance policy. I reside in State of Texas.
