My mother recently had an accident, in the car were two of her friends. The Lawyer she went to got a settlement, I believe was 70K and my mother got 10k and her friends got 5k each. Now I’m not a lawyer, but I don’t think that his billing hours are going to add up to 50K. Which is what he got out of the settlement. My question is this.

How does the billing process work?

What can be done If my mother was swindled/hoodwinked?

Isn’t there a law against lawyers taking advantage of their clients?

Well it is my father. He’s been injured for about 6 years. He had about two surgerys,and he has been uneployed since then. His lawyer does tell him about how much he should be receiving. All they are waiting for is for the results of the doctors evaluation. Then go to trial.

I was in an auto accident with 3 passengers in November 2009 and the insurance company of the car at fault keeps calling me. It was a 5-car accident and we were the last ones to get hit. I’m going to get a lawyer to deal with them but just curious on how long I have to file any claims. Is there an expiration period for this type of stuff? I live in California by the way.

I was involved in a 3 car accident. The car behind me hit me twice (once on the back right and once on the side as he swerved and lost control) causing me to hit the car in front of me. I was driving my dad’s car for the summer because I’m doing an internship away from home. Since my dad’s car is useless now, I needed to get a rental car. I would also like to get some medical expenses covered because I am experiencing back and neck pain. My questions are: Will the other person’s insurance cover the cost of the rental car although the car is not mine but I am the one using it for the summer? And should I get a lawyer to handle this situation? (Also, my dad is 8 hours away from here and the car is still in the tow lot since I am staying at an extended stay hotel and have no where to keep the car.)

My father is an 18-wheeler driver, he was hit from the back from another 18-wheeler and now having some headache pains and neck pains. He has seeing a doctor as well. Do you know any lawyer that is specifically "good" on 18-wheeler accidents? The accident happened in Arizona, my father resides in Texas. Can they do that. Said that when ever I get released will try and find me a position may not be the exact same. Should I get a lawyer. File unemployment. They are still paying worker comp. Just worried about what to . To make things more complicate I am about to have a baby.

Lets say ur insurance expired at midnight and at 2AM a car runs red light and totals ur car and seriously injures u. Clearly other driver is at fault.

But lawyer says he cant represent u cause u were uninsured. Why is that??

During the accident i broke my collar bone in 4 places and need surgery on it as well as many abrasions on my body (road rash) and I was wearing all PPE . The reason i was wandering about the lawyer is because i just separated out of the marine corps and I’ve been going to school for a power company but this injury is going to take me out of a lot of chances to be employed by them needless to say there are going to be some rough times ahead financially. and my bike is… well no more when it comes to that i just want what it’s worth. and if i should get a lawyer what kind should i get and does anyone know of a good one. i was rear end by another car and his insurance total my car and paid me the book value of the car.
i went to physical therapy for about four months. i took x-rays and mri. the mri shows that i have a dislocation in my lower back. but the insurance company has refused to settle me for my injury. my lawyer told me that i should consult another lawyer to sue the insurance company. some lawyers i met are not interested in the case. can i sue the insurance company myself? if so, how do i begin?

This lawyer is not doing what she suppose to do. I was in a accident over a month ago and she hasn’t even call my insurance?

I don’t have a car right now, so can I rent a car and include that in the lawsuit?? What if I have to rent for a year? Will the judge allow that?

My insurance company wants to use reconditioned parts, and they are pressuring us to accept a check made out to us and the finance company. Not enough to pay it off or fix it.

My vehicle is a loaded Suzuki Grand Vitara with all kinds of electronic stuff. Which were mostly scattered across the road after the deer committed suicide. They (the insurance company) had it towed to my home after the accident because there were no dealers in the area and my home was about 100 miles closer than Dallas. Now they are saying we have to pay to have it towed the 100 miles to the nearest dealer, or use someone local.

They are also saying that we contacted the towing company and they are the ones who arranged the tow. There is no one local (car repair shop) who can work on it and get it right. I am afraid if we use someone local it won’t be fixed right. The estimate they gave us has parts coming from a salvage and reconditioned parts dealers.

I need to find a lawyer who can make them fix it right. If it can’t be fixed right then I need them to total it. I have looked in the yellow pages and all of the accident attorneys want injuries. What kind of attorney do I need for just auto damage? I have never sued anyone before. HELP!!!

When a lawyer is requesting medical records for a law suit, am I entitled to receive a reasonable fee for providing copies of such records (I am not in the law suit).
They are using it as evidence for support of damage done by another party. Can anyone site an official laws stating compensation is due?

Since my accident in 2006 I have had more than one lawyer. I have been lied to, ignored, yelled at, you name it! Please, someone tell me what to do! I have been left with little or no respect for the legal profession. I am actually thinking of representing myself! This is ridiculous!
