I live in CA. I was injured at work and have not been able to go back for two months now. I am almost a month late on my rent and am now facing eviction. My employer is making life hell by not giving me my needed Workers Comp and I’ve had to get lawyers involved because of this. I had to borrow money for last month’s rent. Do I have any legal protection? How can I avoid eviction?

my daughter was in daycare in july 2007, and her tooth was chipped and almost knocked out because a child was throwing batteries at her in her classroom. Their was no teacher present and that teacher and the rest of the faculty act as if they don’t care. What kind of lawsuit would i attempt to file and what kind of injury is that? The lawyers that I have attempted to contact said that they dont do those kind of cases. I live in Mississippi and any information that you give is helpful. Thanks in advance

My wife was injured over a year ago by a drunk driver. The Insurance company has been slow to pay medical bills and now wants to settle for little more. I regret having to go to an attorney, but I think she deserves more. Question: How can you find a reliable attorney that will give you an honest assessment of damages and pursue the case for us? Is there a list or something. I know nothing about lawyers or the law so it will be a learning experience.

My mother recently had an accident, in the car were two of her friends. The Lawyer she went to got a settlement, I believe was 70K and my mother got 10k and her friends got 5k each. Now I’m not a lawyer, but I don’t think that his billing hours are going to add up to 50K. Which is what he got out of the settlement. My question is this.

How does the billing process work?

What can be done If my mother was swindled/hoodwinked?

Isn’t there a law against lawyers taking advantage of their clients?

i was rear end by another car and his insurance total my car and paid me the book value of the car.
i went to physical therapy for about four months. i took x-rays and mri. the mri shows that i have a dislocation in my lower back. but the insurance company has refused to settle me for my injury. my lawyer told me that i should consult another lawyer to sue the insurance company. some lawyers i met are not interested in the case. can i sue the insurance company myself? if so, how do i begin?

Why is it a response of lawyers, when they hear about abusive, corrupt acts of government officials, to advise those harmed by the corrupt government officials to hire a lawyer?

Some things should be dealt with as a crime, not as a lawsuit. Or don’t lawyers care, especially if it generates fees they can collect from those harmed by the corruption.?

And do they really think that such lawsuits would accomplish much in a locality where corruption is widespread, even accepted as part of the culture? How many of the local judges could be trusted in such a situation?

After 2 months my lawyer dropped my case because the buisness that hit me and ran didnt have any insurance. Now i live in Arlington it’s right between Dallas and Fort Worth. I need a Lawyer that will take my case and treat as if it was their car, their job, their 4 month old baby that got the window mashed in on her in the back seat, Someone that will call me by my name rather than my case number. Since this last lawyer i’ve lost trust in lawyers (i waited 2 months havent even recieved damages for my totaled car and only to find that they dropped my case)The only way i will hire another one is if i can find a good one. KNnow any good lawyers that all say they are good so how will i know they are good? I dont want to go thru this stuff again!!!!!!!!

That aside, that’s like suing McDonald’s for making you fat. There’s no concrete evidence of any wrongdoing on one person’s part. It’s untraceable. What do you guys think? I think it’s ridiculous to sue over something like this and a lawyers’ scam to get money for both themselves and their clients.

We are in the process of starting a business and we need a small amount of legal counsel so we can become a LLC. I’m just not sure what type of attorney that I shoudl eb lookign for. There are so many types out there and I have no experience dealing with Lawyers.

I ask a question about lawyers and nobody answers. Do they have that much power? My TV sound gets off, or I change channels, or I quick forward tape when a lawyer commercial comes up. Why do I hate them?
Because a lawyer got money from me on a motorcycle accident that was NOT my fault, that’s why. (Maybe I should sue that lawyer. But he would counter sue me and probably win.

I noticed that district attorneys are paid poolry comparedd to most lawyers whichwas disappointingg to me. Can anyone confirm this? Also, can you be a public prosecuting attorney, or are they all public D.A’s?

Hello, I’m writing a novel. In this novel the main character is abused by her boyfriend after he finds out she is pregnant. She calls the police on her way to the hospital. They meet her there and take pictures of injuries (bruised arms, sprained wrist). The abuser’s parents are both lawyers. Is there any way they could get him out of the charge or get it reduced to a misdemeanor so he wouldn’t have to go to jail?

Last week I got served with a lawsuit – a fellow student (college) was claiming that he had been injured by a physics experiment we had participated in.

I won’t go into the details, but this was supposed to have happened last september. No one even knew there was an issue, and no one remembers this kid hurting himself.

Over the last year, his parents took him to 3 doctors, one even performed exploratory surgery – but none could find the permanent nerve damage cited in the complaint.

The issue is he now has issues with the foot in question as a result of the invasive surgery he underwent. I am concerned that this will be mistaken for a legitimate injury. How should I go about fighting this.

p.s. the school’s lawyers have offered to represent me, but I am interested in exactly what options I have, and what other’s might have. It seems to me that this situation must happen to people all the time

my ex is getting a personal injury settlement soon. she owes my back child support. do i have to tell her lawyers this or when she gets her settlement will it automatic be given to me. i live in florida. or should i call child support enforcement to tell them? do i have to get a court order first?
