I was recently dismissed as a prospective juror from a DUI case in California. Afterwards, I googled the judge, deputy DA, and defense attorney. It turns out that the judge and one of the lawyers graduated from the same law school in the same year (back in the 1970′s). Given that a lot of prospective jurors were dismissed [I'm guessing here] for various conflicts of interest such as family members working in law enforcement or family members with past DUI convictions, how high do alumni connections rate as a conflict of interest in jury trials?

It was a car accident that occurred June 2009. I started going to therapy and was told by my lawyers that, it would not cost me anything just keep going. Turns out, the Doctor office filed my case 4 months late? My No Fault was denied and I was asked to just settle the case Right away. I did that, I was told I would receive 16,200.00 and I am now told I would get ,000. The Law Office tells me, I need to go and talk with the Doctors because the Doctors put a Lien of ,200 since the No Fault was denied. My Questions are: 1. Can the Lawyer without my Permission give the Money to the Doctor. 2. Can I get the money back, because I was told by the Lawyers and Doctors it will not cost me a penny and also because it was the Doctors office fault for filing my paperwork 4 months late?

My mother’s accident took place in 2003. It still hasn’t come to an end. She went to an appointment today at the law offices of Kamal Antoine Bilal and they cancelled her meeting at court not just today, but this is the 3rd time they do it. My mother only speaks spanish and she told me the lawyer was surprised because she mentioned she had a daughter of almost 20 years…me. Are these lawyers nothing but fraud? When the accident toook place, a man came up to us and gave us a card to contact these lawyers. Do these guys just want money or what? I’m going to major in law next time. I would really like to know the approximate amount of time it takes for a case like this to be settled.

Can lawyers for each side ask any question in a personal injury case even if it is designed soley to embarrass the witness and is basically irrelevant.
The question being asked has nothing to do with my injury. It pertains to my stepson who is HIV positive. I’m not sure what the purpose of this is, but I was asked about the nature of his disability during a pychological examine ordered by the insurance company, I’m concerned that this now can be brought up at trial and will be very upsetting to my wife.

I’m curious to know, what roughly would it cost to hire a good attorney to defend a DUI/DWI charge?

Assuming the attorney is experienced, and has credentials e.g. being listed on SuperLawyers or having an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbel.
If there are any lawyers out there, on average, how many hours does it usually take to defend a DUI/DWI case, assuming the case goes to trial?

I was involved in a car accident and substained injury to my knee. I was awarded ,000 for pain and suffering. My attorney is giving me ,500, keeping 75%! This seems ridiculously high, how much can lawyers charge? I was under the impression that no more than 35%.

This is personal injury, and I am waiting for a response for acceptance or denial of claim. My lawyers supposedly have been waiting for 4 months without correspondence or an answer. Is this normal?

I crashed into a palm tree in Surprise, AZ and was taken straight to the hospital, there they took blood test. A month later the sheriff shows up at my house and hands me the paperwork for the dui and makes me sign them or I would go to jail. Should i hire an attorney/lawyer to represent me in court. Has anyone had any experiences or recommendations for lawyers in AZ.

Keep your opinions to yourself please….I was not drunk i refused the breathalyzer because they had no right to pull me over in the first place….they never even stated why i was pulled over ……so all im looking for is recommendations not opinions on the case thanks

I know there is a lawsuit. I want to know how much roughly the lawsuit would be. I heard some lawyers play games in the lawsuit.

Do you think if more people started suing lawyers for malpractice and for just being stupid, the lawyers in congress would final consider tort reform as a viable way to control costs? How about if we start suing congress to get our money back for all the years they haven’t done their job and balanced the budget or what they said they’d do?
I’m thinking we just use those online lawyer services, and file all kinds of bogus lawsuits against lawyers, for millions of dollars, and jam up the civil courts. Make it impossible for them to do business.

it was almost four months ago we were hit by a big rig and the trucking company rfuses to answe the lawyers calls and he does not seem to be pursuing it of taking further action. is it too late to get another lawyer??? please help

is there a percentage that lawyers cannot exceed when taking their part in a law suit? I recently got some money because of accident at work and the lawyer had initially said 20%, but once the case was over, he said "my hours exceeded, I am gonna take 1/3 (33%)". I don’t know anything about law so I said sure. But I have been told (dont know if its true) that in certain states lawyers cannot take more than a certain percentage because is unlawful.

I have a personal injury claim against a pharmaceutical company. The lawyers representing me have received an answer from the company, and have now submitted my fact sheet and records. They have informed me that it is now a waiting game for the records and my fact sheet to be reviewed. How long until this is done…how long until settled?

My husband got his finger smashed off over 2 weeks ago by a fellow co-worker (who still has a job). He has not had surgery yet, on Thursday 2 weeks ago he was driven to the hospital by a safety guy instead of them calling an ambulance, they told him that he was going into surgery. They gave him shots to numb his finger (they had his finger on Ice within 10 mins of it being smashed off) then they told him their discharging him and that their going to make sure his companies insurance was going to cover it. I told him they couldn’t refuse service and that’s what they did. They told him that the hand specialist was on his way to see him and then they changed it and said their going to make him an appointment. I was just wanting to know if anyone knew any good lawyers around the Arlington, Tx area. Also to add on to this he had over time for that week and even went to work on that Sunday after the incident with his finger still off because they said they were going to pay him (he’s a Foreman) and they paid him for 40 hours only and told him its because they filed workers comp.
