I feel that I prematurely hired legal representation. I am not willing to sue and have received some payment for my legal claim, of which I have paid my attorney ,000+. I can manage the process on my own. How do I/ can I fire my attorney?

My friend was in an auto accident where it was determined he was not at fault, but the other driver was uninsured. He has legal representation and is seeking ,000.00 for his injury and work lost, but his insurance company has been disputing his work loss and is only willing to pay ,000.00. This dispute has been going on for over 2 years now. His chiropractor tol him if an agreement is not reached after 2 years, he wins and gets the full amount he is seeking. Is this true?
