My question is about auto insurance…….?

I live in a fault-based, or “tort liability" state. I have all the usual auto insurance, including 00 per person medical payments and 000 bodily injury liability.

If a passenger in my vehicle is injured in an accident that is my fault, and that passenger does not have health/medical insurance, and the hospital bill for that passenger’s injuries exceed ,000,- then I presume that passenger would want to sue me to recover the difference between their actual medical costs and the 00 my insurance paid.

What kind of insurance would cover me if I were sued under these circumstances? Should the bodily injury liability insurance kick-in? My agent says no,– that is for passengers in other cars, not in my car.

But it seems to me I should have some kind of insurance to cover this scenario. I mean after all, if that’s the case, I should never carry a passenger unless I first verify they have adequate medical coverage in case of an accident?
As a follow up to my question- in this case the passenger is a family member, but not a family member that lives in my house. Should that make a difference?

My friend was driving my car (I was in the passenger seat) and crashed and totalled it. No other car was damaged, only mine. I don’t have any collision insurance on my car, but he has liability insurance on his own car. Will his insurance pay for it?

After I filed a calim with my own and adversary insurance , and 5 months later after the arbitration between my insurance and adversary insurance, the case was resolved in my favor finding the advesary driver at fault . Now the adversary insurance is supposed to compensate me for my damages , but they refuse to on the basis that i did not have collision coverage . Please explain and what can I do now? FYI I have a liability insurance

Im 15 and missed a drivers ed class. I know the collision insurance, thats pretty basic. Its pretty much all of the others that I’m confused about. The main things I need to know about is Liability Insurance.

Thank you for all input!

What about uninsured motorist? (I’ve got good health coverage too)
The question is not about liability insurance. It is about comprehensive and collision!

The law requires everyone to have only liability.
I also have comprehensive incase my car gets stolen.
But i dont think a tree is going to fall on my car for me to get collision.
If someone hits my car their liability insurance will fix it so what does collision do for me?
I thought comprehensive covers me if i hit a fire hydrant..
or it that what comprehensive is for if i hit a wall or run into something?

Since I only have liability insurance would my medical payment be covered under my auto policy generally? I know I’d have to check with my insurance company but I’m curious to see your responses. My truck ran off the road and into a ditch almost flipping over. I believe hit something in the road.like a rock or something that caused my truck to veer off.

Lets say my net worth was 0,000. If my Bodily Injury Liability insurance was 0,000 would that mean I would never have to pay out of pocket if somebody sued me due to a car accident?

Could I be sued for more that I own and still be forced to pay out of pocket? Or can I only be sued for what I have and the auto insurance will pay all of it?

i was rearended, the guy only had liability insurance. bodily INJURY WAS MORE THAN POLICY LIMITS. MY AUTO INSURANCE EXHAUSTED PIP LIMITS. I HAD TO HAVE AN ANTERIOR CERVICAL FUSION. DOES THIS ALL GET PAID FOR AS WELL AS REIMBURSEMENT FOR MISSED WORK, AND OUT OF POCKET EXPENSES AND VEHICLE DAMAGES AND PAIN/SUFFERING/INCONVENIENCE?

Does my auto insurance cover bodily injury?

I reside in San Antonio, TX and I just recently got involved in a car accident. Unfortunately it was my fault because the road was wet due to rain the other night. The property damage claim has already been resolved, but the bodily injury claim is still pending. Will my liability insurance cover that?

your personal injury protection on your policy pay for your injuries? Where does the other person’s (who was at fault) liability insurance come into play? Also, in same situation, if the other person was uninsured or underinsured, would your um/uim pay or your personal injury protection pay for your injuries?

I was involved in an auto accident where the other party was at fault, and the other parties ins co already admitted fault. I only had liability (never again) and my totalled car had a value of 000. However, the insured was only covered for up to k, shorting me k. I have minor scrapes and visible scarring on my head from the airbag hitting my glasses. I really only want the value of my car, but if I have to go through lawyer to get property and bodily injury claims of over k, after lawyer fees, what am I left with? I want to settle with the Ins Co directly.
Thank all of you for your help. I want to refrain from getting a lawyer at all costs, but I do only want whats fair to me – my life, which is in tact – and the value for my car. My liability insurance, which I had for less than a year, and full coverage for my whole driving history before that, won’t cover the balance. I don’t want to fake anything with a lawyer or get some phone doctor to write my arm that supposedly fell off recently. I want my car back!! Is small claims my way? Won’t that take forever? Can I plead with the adjuster?
