I had a pretty extensive, nine hour spinal surgery to remove a tumor 2 1/2 months ago. The tumor was actually growing inside one of my vertebra which caused it to collapse. The doctors had to fuse my spine together at t6-t8, but then made a mistake in the screw sizes and had to fix their mistake a few days later, which was about 5 hours of surgery. I am still taking 4-6 or Lortab a day…and I was wondering how much other people needed this long after their surgeries? I am a 22/f.

In August of 95 (12 yrs ago), after more than 4 yrs of being misdiagnosed, docs rushed me into surgery to remove my appendix when I was only 6 years old.Since I was an infant my parents had taken me to numerous doctors being I had chronic UTI’s and vomiting. They would claim it was gas or accuse my parents of abuse. Nobody ever did an ultrasound. When they finally went in to remove my appendix due to "appendicitis" they found a black, walnut size kidney and realized they had made a mistake. They stitched me up and told my parents to come back a few weeks later to have the dead kidney taken out. Along with the kidney they took out as much of the ureter tube as possible but left about 1/4 of it. Over the last few years I have been getting reoccuring infections and UTI’s yet again. Yesterday I went to a urologist because I had intense back pain and he determined that because they left part of my ureter tube it became a sac of infection that now requires further surgery. Can I still sue?

Want to change my career and am wondering if a past mistake will come to bite me. I plan on reporting it; I know better than to try to hide it.

I was arrested for DWI and I have no arrest record or have ever had so much as a speeding ticket. I also refused the breathalyzer test because I was scared and didn’t know what to do. I’m definitely getting a lawyer but I’m just sick about this. I made such a huge mistake and I could use some information.

I GOT A DUI.. SHOULD I GET AN ATTORNEY?

Soo this was obviously a retarded mistake on my end. and i definitely learned my lesson, but the consequences for me are stressing me out.

THE STORY:
I was coming from Irvine to Pomona ca, and I had about 2 beers and it was about 11:30pm. i was super tired because i work a lot! but on the ride home I was already falling asleep on the road but was almost home so i stuck it out. well, right by my house i hit a red light, closed my eyes and passed out.
I woke up to a police officer helping me out of the car (my car didnt move, i was just out)
The cop began to give me the field sobriety test, and i was doing perfect on it. then i notice the other officers searching through my car so i asked what they were doing, the officer responded with "their gettin your registration" i said "well i could get it for them, arent you suppose to ask for permission to search through my stuff" and then i moved a little and he grabbed my wrist, when he grabbed my wrist i reacted and pulled a little, (mind you i was OUT a few minutes before this, i couldnt even believe this was going on) when i pulled back a little he reacted and grabbed my other wrist… by that time, i got upset because he was holding me a side. then he said "ok, that it’ put the cuffs on me and took me to the station. I demanded to call my attorney, or for the officer to read me my rights, but he said " no, and I’ll read them when we get there." when we got there i demanded a breathalyzer. so then i took the breathalyzer 2 times. (I did speak to an attorney and he said there are suppose to be 2 scores) the officer gave me the breathalyzer 2x, but said we need 2 scores to get the 1.
The officer said my result was .08.

1 OPTION
I could pay an attorney to fight this all the way but it’ll be 00 (for an okay attorney) and everything can get wiped off, or turned into a wet reckless.

2nd OPTION
i could fight it by myself.

3rd OPTION
Just take the penalties, be broke for the next year, risk loosing my license which will have an affect on my business and my insurance sky rocketing.

?? I dont know if i should get an attorney, considering i dont know how i’m gonna pay for one, if they’ll budge on a payment plan, I’ve never been so backed up on my bills like this before, and I already owe 00 in bills this month.

Does anyone know a better resolution?

Last year I paid 00 to have my DUI from 5 years ago expunged. He went to court and said everything was taken care of. I just got a background check report from ADP through a job I applied for that showed everything! On my job application it said do not list charges that have been expunged so I didn’t. (Im in Oklahoma if that makes a difference) But it shouldn’t! What is the problem? No wonder I didn’t get the job I wanted! My lawyer is now the District Judge so I’m not quite sure what to do and if he even did everything right. I paid alot of money to get this removed and it is not and I’m not happy!
Thank you Vortex and to the other guy, screw you :) That happened when I was 20 and I am now 25, have graduated college and thankfully, I have an amazing job, but it was not my first pick and the DUI is probably the reason why. It should not have been on my record. My attorney told me that it would not show up on any background checks because it was EXPUNGED.
Oh yeah, do you think I didn’t pay for my crime??? Jail time, community service and over ,500 worth of fines!! I think that was alot to pay for the first and only crime I’ve ever commited when I was young and immature!!!
I am never using answers again. I know I made a mistake 5 years ago and have changed and paid for my crime. People are just mean. I will just go to another attorney with this question.

The doctor made a mistake resulting in years of suffering after the settlement all directly relating to the doctors screw up.

If the doctors or practitioners do something in error, like leave a forceps in you or make a negligent mistake..How is that handled?
FYI – I was trying to find out how mistakes like that are handled in countries with socialized medicine. I am not looking to sue.

One year ago I was victim of an idiot that decided that red lights are meant for running. Well, his mistake caused me 3 ruptured discs and one bulging disc in my lower back. They are also telling me that I have degenerative disc disease and arthritis has began to settle into the injuries. I now take four 10mg percoset, 900 mg of neurontin, and 8mg of Zanaflex daily (obviously not at once). I have been to 2 Neurosurgeons, one saying I need surgery and the other saying NO because I was not in extreme pain. I saw the first surgeon before the Neurontin did its magic and second one after being numb. My body has built up a tolerance to the percoset and its not taking pain away like it used too not to mention my body CRAVES it. My doctor has not switched the meds even though I have told her that they are not working. Is there something out there I can use that is non habit forming? Has anyone had similar injuries and went thru the surgery. I am only 31 and want my life back. Any advice?

i am ready to accept my mistake and being guilty! i really dont know what to do as i have never gone throught this situation before.
I have already registered for a First offenders program too.. do i have to serve jail time?

I am due with my 3rd child in a week and have had one baby without an epidural and the last one with one. However the blood patches and headaches from the epidural mistake was WORSE than labor. (Yes, if that is possible) Help? Likelyhood of this happening again?

I’m 18, I made the mistake of trying to drive home and got pulled over. This was in Columbia, MO. BAC of 0.094. I have never had any violation of ANY type before. This was actually the first time I had ever been pulled over by a cop in my life. Talk about scary. My parents refuse to speak to me, and seeing how I’m going to have to pay for everything, I was wondering if anyone had any estimates or good advice. A friend said his fees were only 0 for his lawyer (who happened to be a family friend) plus the 0 fee for getting a DWI. Is this a close estimate for everyone else who doesn’t have the advantage of having a lawyer friend?

How will a DWI conviction affect my life?

I live in NY and it is my first DWI with nothing else on my record.
My conviction was a misdemeanor I am only 23 and made a huge mistake.

Are you serious about limits on malpractice suits?

If malpractice suits are limited to earnings, what about a wife and mother ofr small kids who does not have an outside of the home job but has both breasts removed by mistake because her doctor is an idiot or doesn’t care? That really has happened.

I feel like I was a victime of Medical Malpractice, it happened several years ago, and I’m still deal with the mistake that was made, I’m wondering if I could still sue…or do I have an legal standing?
