I’ve been planning to join the military for sometime now. I had a injury at a previous job 2-3 years ago, by moving a heavy object, it was diagnosed as a pulled/strained muscle on my lower back, but wouldn’t be anything permanent/disabled and would heal after a while.

Work provided treatment, but was cut off. Had a workers comp case and got a settlement, recieved a 11% disability sum($), but wasn’t declared disabled/permanenet damage, just was given the sum as it was and case closed.

Anyways, I continued self treatment(recommended things by the doc at first) and finally think I’m fully healed. I can lift weights and exercise 500% more than I ever could. Never felt this great. However I haven’t visited a doc to document that I’m recovered.

Now I’m planning on going to a recruiter but I’m concerned if I’ll be disqualified when I get checked by the medical examination? Any suggestions? Should I visit the doctor that first treated me in order to have a note/letter ready to show my recovery? What are my chances of passing, knowing that I’m defenetly recovered?

I just very worried because sometimes their doctors can be a pain in the neck. I want to be ready for anything without lying.
I’m not asymptomatic. Also, wouldn’t lying get me in trouble later on if i do a long career? Usually they do investigations for security clearances. Plus, they ask on medical forms at MEPS if I received money from a injury.

This is actually for my mother. She has a bulging disc that is badly aggrevated at the moment. She works in a model home, selling new homes, so she is up on her feet and then down in the chair constantly.

She doesn’t have basic medical or the money for a cortisone shot right now. At present, I have her taking 800mg ibuprofren and 1000mg acetominophen every 6 hours to help manage the pain.

What can she do so that she isn’t close to tears at work for the next 4 days??

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

PS - We have been alternating heat and ice as well.

Magic is only 4 months old, he is a cocker spaniel. The vet is sending me to a specialist -says he has a spinal cord injury. He doesn’t voluntarily move his hind legs, holds his head to the left and seems to be in a lot of pain. I make very little money does anyone know what the surgery might cost? Is medication an option? Just any help would be nice. Thanks

I was struck on my motorcycle by an unisured motorist that ran a stop sign, breaking a total of 9 bones, I’ve had 4 operations and I still have 1 more to go. My bills have hit over $ 300,000 the woman that hit me got less than a 00 in fines and is already driving again. I think it should be a $ 2000 dollar fine and they lose their auto to be sold at auction and drivers license for a year. The fine and money gained from the sale of their car should go into a fund to pay the victim’s. Once they are hit with a fine and loss of their car and license maybe they will think twice about getting behind the wheel and not having insurance. Because let’s face it, if you can’t afford insurance you cant afford to drive.

I am asking on behalf of a friend that lives in California and I don’t know the legal requirements and the person’s lawyer hasn’t made herself clear on how the settlement process works. Is there a rule of thumb, like a personal injury is equal to the amount of medical bills incurred. Is this money taxable?

If I was in a car accident and my health insurance pays all but 00 (lets say) of my medical bills and my car insurance has a 100,000 benefit for accidental injury while in my vehicle, does it really only pay out the ,000? and does that money go right to the hospital?
What if I want something that would pay me a lump sum to my home, like enough to replace my income while I can’t work due to the injury?

low back injury with accident and i am at a lost?

I was in an accident in May and have gone through several doctors. i was referred to a pain specialist who gave me an epidual but for the first week was just miserable. it finally started to work but i have to be very careful, still sitting all day at work is aweful and can’t stand for to long or walk. i advised the clinic and when they were going to do another MRI they contacted the car insurance and of course the adjuster was a jerk and just said he didn’t have to pay it but no need to call and request prior approval. now this place was in a panic of whether there bills will be paid. it’s like they didn’t want to take care of me anymore. all they cared about was money. i don’t want to tell my regular doctor because i don’t want them to worry. i told my lawyer and they took care of it but doesn’t change anything. now who do i see. i’m still miserable. i’m depressed. i just want my back better and feelings back in my legs. any suggestions?
Im so lost

II was in a car accident in Jan. The driver came over in to my lane hitting me and forcing me up over the curb. I was not in a lot of pain til later that night. The next day i woke up and couldnt move my head. I went to the hospital and they said my collar bone and it was bruised (huge lump comming out of it) and a Severe neck sprain. xrays were neg. They told me to consult my physician the next day. I got a referall for PT from my Doctor and started going the next week. I was in physical therapy for 12 wks. I am doing better, but I wake up with stiffness and tingling in my first 3 fingers every now and then. They said to expect this for a while because it may swell and press on the nerve for a while.
I want to settle this and be done, I have been paying 250$ PT pmts every wk for 12wks and missed work, events and have woke up in pain for 4 mos. Since I am feeling better I just want to move on. What kind of settlement should I expect or accept? I have no idea what is fair….
I am not out to make money, and I am not looking for a million bucks. I just want to know a range to expect so that I know if I am being treated fairly by them.

It has been a nightmare and I would like to just move on!

Also:
I have pics of the car damage, the injuries, the lump and bruising on my collar bone as well as the protruding lump I had on the curve of my neck.

Also, the driver admitted full responsibility for not seeing me in the lane next to him.

I was recently in an auto accident where I sustained serious injuries and my car was totalled. The other party is 100% at fault and has admitted that, and their insurance company is offering to pay the max amount of their policy on bodily injury (they have minimum coverage, so their policy in GA is 25K for bodily injury and 25K for property damage). The 25K they have offered as the policy limit for medical does not come close to paying my bills. Out of the 25K available towards property damage, they have paid 7K to my insurance company for totalling my car (my insurance company paid me the 7K while we dealt with establishing fault) and they paid me 00 towards the items in my car that were destroyed as a result of the accident. Is there any way to get them to pay me the difference between the 25K available towards property damage and the 00 they have paid out, as that money would make a huge difference towards the medical bills I am going to be out of pocket on.
I tried filing underinsured motorists with my insurance company - apparently you can’t do that in Georgia. I do have uninsured motorists, but they have stated that I can only use it if hit by someone without insurance, if they don’t have enough I’m out of luck. I went through multiple layers of management at my insurance company trying to get them to cover me but they pretty much said no.
I have the maximum coverage possible in GA - underinsured motorist is not even an option on the policy or I would have already had it. (Ironic isn’t it that a maximum coverage person is hit by a minimum coverage person). The release I would have to sign to take the 25K states that I release both the other insurance company and the driver from any future litigation, etc. - I assume that means I can’t sue them personally (though from what I’ve been able to learn about them they have nothing to go after). I am curious as to if this means criminal charges cannot be pursued - this was initially a hit and run accident and I believe the police are going to charge the driver with running. Even though they were found and owned up to what they did I don’t want my taking the 25K to release them from that legal liability as well.
There is a separate, ongoing criminal investigation going on related to this accident due to it being a hit and run - the other driver thought I was dead and ran. That is separate from the insurance issue.

Thus far the guilty party’s insurance co. has been very easy to work with. They told me to take my car to the mechanic of my choice for repairs…no jumping through hoops. They made more than generous settlements to the other people in my car who received minor injuries in the accident. My only concern is that my injuries (whiplash and a torn shouler labrum) are lifetime injuries. I just had surgery last week to repair the tear…I’m in my 40’s so it’s a downhill slope for recovery. I’m not sure if I want to hire an attorney who will take 33% of the money due me, as well as charge me extra for every letter, every phone call, every minute that they "say" they are working on my case. Most people aren’t aware of these additional costs, but I’ve heard of situations where the attorney has walked with more than half of the settlement w/o even going to court! Any ideas/thoughts?

I have been suffering from low back pain for the past 2.5 years now. Initially, it started as small pain but gradually increased to a high level. The pain was mostly on the left side.

In Dec 2006, I had an MRI taken which showed mild disc bulge at L4-5 on the right side and significant disc herniation at L5-S1 on the left side. The MRI also showed some disc dehydration at these two disc levels.

For the past 2.5 years though, the pain used to vanish by 95% when I used to sit down. The pain was continuous while walking and standing at one point.

But since 10 days, the pain has increased to such an extent that I am not even able to sit. The pain starts in the lower back, goes down the thigh and legs and sometimes a burning sensation in the legs. Also, the pain has started on the right side of the lower back which was not there earlier.

I had another MRI taken recently in Oct 2008 and the report was not much different from the earlier one. The only difference was that now the disc herniation at L4-5 and L5-S1 has become bilateral now ( on both left and right sides ).

I have been continuously undergoing physiotherapy for the past 2.5 years but there has not been a period where I was completely free from pain. I have also recently tried Ayurvedic therapy for 7 days continuously and there was no significant relief.

I have heard about this spinal decompression technique which might be helpful for such cases of lower back. This would be the last resort before surgery.

Can anyone tell me whether this really helps ? Are there any risks associated with it ? Also, is the treatment available in India ?

I am ready to spend time, effort and money if it really helps. I have one year of time to go before marriage and I want to get rid of the pain before that.

Sorry for having taken your time with a long history but thought to explain the problem in detail.

Looking forward to some quick replies.

I am being medically discharged from the US Army and I have to go to Fort Houston to fight for more benefits for the injury that I suffered. Where can I find a lawyer that I can hire, a civilian one? Also, one that does not ask for money up front would be wonderful. Thank you.
