My brother in-law broke his leg in two places during a motorcycle touring (some drunk redneck rammed my bro’s Harley with his truck). The surgeon installed some scaryass orthopedic thingy that look like the lovechild of SAW torture instrument and bird cage.
How long does it usually take to heal bone fracture with the external fixator? Will he gain full function of his limb after they remove the fixator?
Thanks

was recently hit while riding my motorcycle. I live in Las Vegas, NV so everyone is sue crazy out here. Everyone tells me I should get a personal injury lawyer to get be a settlement check. The man stopped and his insurance is claiming responsibility. They have given me no problems and have been very nice. They’re sending someone to get an estimate on my bike Monday. The accident was simple. I was riding in the far right hand lane and his car merged into my lane. I slammed on my brakes but didn’t react in time and his back bumper hit my front tire. The bike laid over on it’s right side and both the bike and I went skidding across the pavement for about 50 ft. My injuries are: a twisted ankle and road rash on my right arm (light) and right knee (severe). I went to the doctor afterwards and the insurance company said to send them my medical bills so they can settle. What are the pros and cons of getting an attorney? Should I be sue happy or trust the insurance company? Please help
My bike has a lot of cosmetic damage to the right side and I’m pretty sure the front forks are bent because I have to hold the handlebars at an angle to drive straight. Also my husband says when I sit upright the back tire leans the opposite way that the handlebars have to be turned. The bike sounds horrible but that might be beacuse the exhaust pipe is dented and scratched up and is now out of tune. I’m guessing that the bike is totalled. It’s an 07 Ninja 250 and has just under 3000 miles on it. I’m pretty sure the cost of fixing it would be more than it’s worth. I’m definately not going to sign anything without legal advise but I hate people who are sue-happy and I’d hate to be a hypocrit. Good news though, if they total it out I can get a new ZZR600 or 650R like i’ve been wanting.
Yes I’m stupid for wanting a bigger, faster bike after wrecking my old one but I refuse to give up riding.
Thanks for the ideas. I only missed one day of work (because I was in the doctors office) and I don’t think I have any lasting injuries. The only thing I could think of is I already have neck problems and this probably wont’s help those out much.

I have a motorcycle in Las Vegas which I am planning to sell next week. I am currently in Los Angeles. What steps do I need to take when it comes to power of attorney and having my friend signing the bill of sale for the bike for me if I am absent? do I just get a power of attorney notarized and do I have to register the power of attorney with the city or county??? what i am confused on is how would the dmv know if i gave my friend the power of attorney to sign a power of attorney when the buyer goes to register the bike??? thanks!

three months ago, my husband was unable to get up the bed the usual way because it was hindered by his recurring back.He was diagnosed with mild scoliosis and til now was given a self therapy for his back and just a week ago it became worst and he was unable to move and his back aches worst he said.He was driving a motorcycle which i think made it worst. He has cold hands and feet but not lost sensation on the lower part of his body which accdg to drs spinal is ruled out already.

I was struck on my motorcycle by an unisured motorist that ran a stop sign, breaking a total of 9 bones, I’ve had 4 operations and I still have 1 more to go. My bills have hit over $ 300,000 the woman that hit me got less than a 00 in fines and is already driving again. I think it should be a $ 2000 dollar fine and they lose their auto to be sold at auction and drivers license for a year. The fine and money gained from the sale of their car should go into a fund to pay the victim’s. Once they are hit with a fine and loss of their car and license maybe they will think twice about getting behind the wheel and not having insurance. Because let’s face it, if you can’t afford insurance you cant afford to drive.

I was injured quite badly last year in a motorcycle/auto accident and have just received a fairly large settlement from AAA Michigan. Does anyone know if this is considered taxable income, or is it taxable in a different way?
I’ll be paying H&R Block to do my taxes this year due to a few complications in my life, but can anyone give me a heads up on this area? I need to know if I can start paying the bills accrued due to my ‘downtime’ or should I reserve some for taxes…
Thanks in advance, Rick
All past, present, and future medical bills are covered by AAA directly, and lost wages were paid in full while I was off work. The settlement is for ‘pain and suffering’ and what I need it for is to have someone finish a house I started to build before the accident. I am unable to climb on the roof, etc. like before so can’t do it myself as planned. Also there was a considerable amount of interest paid on another house I borrowed against to fund the new building. Yes, I know that amount is deductable.

I think if they are driving an automobile, motorcycle or anything else should also be charged with something like attempted assult/murder or something like that. If they are drunk enough to receive a DWI then they had no reason to be out on the road. If they are in an accident and are the cause of the accident, someone could have and might have been killed. I think the DWI charge with something else added to it would make a lot of people think before they drink, especially if they are driving because the end result would impact their life a lot more than a DWI. In this state, every year that is sentenced can be counted as 2 month in the Department of Corrections if they are good and do not cause any trouble. Sometimes, it’s not in the pen, it’s on weekends or even taken away if they enroll in a facility. What is your feeling on this subject?

My husband was on his way to work yesterday on his motorcycle when a 77 year old woman pulled out in front of him from a side street. She was cited AND arrested at the scene. He was air-transported to a critical care hospital with multiple injuries: a fractured pelvis and shattered t-12 spinal vertebrae, a broken arm along with various other injuries. When I returned from the hospital and was looking on the internet to see the extent of his injuries, trying to make sense of what th

My son was riding his motorcycle on a street when a man failed to yield. My son hit the side of the truck, was knocked out and has a two inch scar on his chin for the rest of his life. The mans insurance is claiming 100% responsibility . How much money should we ask for?
