I was in the gym the other day and I got onto one of those rowing machines. The person using it before me left the handle bar up, so I had to reach for it. While I was trying to reach for it, the person rowing next to me gave a sudden push forward on my back, and I felt about two crackles in my lower back at the tail of the spine in the left hip area (he pushed me from the left side). When that happened, I don’t recall feeling any pain.
What was the cause of the crackle in that area? My concerns are that it was nerves breaking or dying, nerves being damaged, bones breaking, bones being damaged, or the tail bone of the spine being moved out of place.
When it comes to diagnosing, what is the best type of procedure to check for any bone or nerve damage in the lower back? I have been feeling some sensations and pain, but that could be due to me stretching to check for pain, as they didn’t really come on until two days later after I did the stretching incl. hyper-extending. Thank you

My fiance had his 4th back surgery. This time they removed a section of the lamina in his lumbar spine to relieve the pressure on the nerves. He now has a bony lump (which is getting worse) at the top of his incision. Is this normal after this type of surgery? It is extremely painful when it’s touched and he’s 3 weeks out of surgery. The docs said they would need to watch the stability of his spine after this surgery, is this an indication that it’s weakening or just a normal lump from the removal?
Not sure if I was clear, but this is a BONY lump on his spine that wasn’t there before. It’s getting bigger, it’s solid bone.

Like why is it that you cant move, cuase the nerves cant contact muscles but your basic functions work like heart beating, breathing

Just got MRI results back. Family Doc says I have a bulging disk between C5-C6. Went to pain management yesterday and that Doc said it is pressing on the nerves affecting my left arm. I refused steroids shots b/c I am not in severe pain or debilitated. I am being sent to physical therapy which is fine with me as I need to learn how to do things so it does not get worse. Anyhow, what is the difference between buldging disks and herniated disks? I thought they were the same but I think I am mistaken. Also, any advice?

I am having it the 25th and wondered what to expect. I was caught in a P.T.O. of a tractor a few years ago and my back is steadily getting worse. Dr. says, "Spinal Fusion" because all the nerves are crushed!

Think in evolutionary terms
thank you for your honest comment KTD.
The question would be why some nerves by-pass the protection and travel outside the spinal cord.
I am thinking about maybe reaction rate as you mention but don`t quite know how to link it to evolution

I am really planning to become a neurologist (the one who does surgery on the nerves, back, and spinal cord)when i grow up. im muslim and i want to help other people feel better cuz my dad had a disk herniation. I know that many people suffer from this but dont recieve help. But i am worried that a lot of people would not be comfortable enough to have surgery and have me operate on them lol. I dont see many Muslim surgeons either (women)Would you be ok with it?

The terms spinal cord, somatic nerves and parasympathetic division are best associated with the
Somatosensory area
Central nervous system
Limbic system
Peripheral nervous system

Is it possible for someone who has a c6-c7 spinal cord injury for 8 months now to walk again someday on their own? It was bruised, not severed. I know that scar tissue blocks the nerves, and I’m also wondering if there’s any way to get rid of it so he can get some feeling back? It’s been 8 months since the accident and there are no changes in him yet. Will there ever be? If someone can give me an honest answer I would appreciate it.

In 1998 I was T – Boned by another driver in another pickup truck. He hit me at approx. 50mph in a 40mph zone, I was crossing with green light at approx. 3mph. He got a ticket for running a red light. I had small pieces of glass in my right arm, and a goose egg on my forehead. But because I had seat and shoulder belt on. My back injury did not show up for at least 6 months. I went to a chiropractor and he xrayed my spine and said it was twisted in 2 places. I have problems with nerves getting pinched causing my legs to go out from under me. What I want to know is, how many years after an accident do I have to sue for injuries. At the time, I consulted with a free consultation from a lawyer, he said it wasn’t worth it because they would not be able to get at least 150,000.00. this was way before the back problem showed up. Now we have 1 – 800 – call Sam
