Since my injury every dream has been able bodied and even my nightmares are though a lot of them involve being trapped. Obvious where that is coming from.

My fiancé’ & I were rear-ended Monday by someone exceeding the speed limit by 80mph. We were going about 15 mph (just pulled out and got straight in the road) The other person was doing 125 mph when we were hit. It of course totaled my car and unfortunately the other driver did not survive. I still owe about 00 on it so I am sure I will get that much for it. Their insurance company took fault of course & got me a rental car for 70 days. I went to ER that night & all x-rays were ok. I was released w/a cervical strain & a thoracic strain & a knee strain. I have only slept maybe 8 hours total in 4 days, everytime I close my eyes I see the accident, I am working b/c I can’t afford to stay out but my production is going down hill b/c I can’t focus. My neck pain is getting worse & my back as well. I went to doctor yesterday & he basically said I had strains & muscle spasm that should go away. He gave me anti-inflamtory meds & something to help me sleep but that hasn’t worked yet,
last night I still didn’t sleep, and when I do I have nightmares of the accident. My fiancé’ didn’t get hurt but he has images as well so he is going to doctor to help him rest to. We both saw the person be ejected out of the vehicle and fly in front of our car. It’s horrible. People are telling me that I can get their insurance company to give us the value of the car and still be able to settle with the medical later. One is that true? Next question, everyone is telling us to get a lawyer b/c this “post traumatic stress syndrome” that the doc told me I had could last forever and I may always have problems with my neck and back. I need help; I have never been through this before. Please tell me ups and downs and what’s the best way to handle this? At first I
didn’t want anything except to get another car. But as times goes on I am so mad that this person was traveling this fast in a 45 mph zone. Our car that was totaled was my fiancé’s late aunts. He wanted to always keep it
because of sentimental value & also so that when we got it paid off we could also use the title for collateral…which we can’t do now. Any advice will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

My girlfriend in California had a car accident coming home from work. She drove a 2000 Toyota Camry le. She was turning left on a green arrow when a car from the opposite end of the intersection ran the red light and hit her car on the passenger side at about 40 – 45 mph. She was taken to emergency on a backboard but did not sustain any serious injuries at the time and had no xrays done so was sent home with medications.
However a few days later she is experiencing upper back pain with right arm pain that was affecting her job performance, so she had to go to an urgent care clinic and after an examination the physician recommended that she takes 1 week off from her job and to go for physical therapy for about 3 weeks. The pain can become severe every now and then though.
In the meantime, the car looks totaled with the passenger side doors caved in, the windows completely broken, the dash glass cracked up, and the roof and base of the vehicle dented from the side. Also the car seats are shifted from the impact. She does not have collision coverage in her insurance
But the other guy that hit her was driving a company car and was honest, making the statement with his company insurance that he was at fault. The bottom line is that she keeps getting advice to get a lawyer on the case but I want to be sure if it’s a good idea for her. I heard about some nightmares in dealing with these insurance adjusters and I don’t know whether she should talk to the other party’s company insurance adjuster before getting a lawyer for the case. But considering her injuries are somewhat minor(might go for an M.R.I. though), would a lawyer be worth having for handling the claim? Thanks a lot
