How long does it take to recover from back surgery?

This is what the report said when the results of my MRI came back: L5-S1–There is grade 1 anterolisthesis of L5 on S1. There is disc desiccation and vacuum disc phenomenon at this level as well and concentric disc bulge. Very prominent hypertropic changes involve the facets and ligamentum flavum bilaterally. The constellation of findings results in moderate-to-severe central canal stenosis and severe narrowing of the lateral recess and neural foramina bilaterally. Degenerative endplate chages are present at this level. I am only 44 and I have never had any back injuries. I am having numbness in my legs from the knees down and I am losing my coordination as well. Then there is the PAIN! In the last 3 weeks I have had to use a walker to move around. Are there other treatments for this besides surgery? If not how long will it take me to recover from surgery?

Do i have a pinched nerve in my foot?

i was helping my family clean out our garage for my baby brothers birthday party. We had a rolling tool box/shed like thing, and it was rusty. i was standing in front of it, pulling it toward me. it wouldnt budge so i applied more force, which happened to be too much, and the bottom of the tool box ran up on my foot. i was wearing flip flops, and i had a small dent in the middle of the top of my foot and my foot went numb for about 5 minutes. this was a week ago… and whenever i touch that spot on my foot, i have a pulse of numbness surge through the top of my foot to my big toe. Is this a pinched nerve? will it go away or do i need to have it checked out?

C2 Spinal Cord Injury Advice please?

I’m 29. I got hit by a hard fast soccer ball from close distance 7 months ago, I damaged C2 I believe, MRI scan showed bruising. I took steroids at start & wore neck-brace. The numbness/tingling has mostly gone from head/neck/right hand(prob reduced by 80% in first few months), but sometimes my fingers tingle, and neck aches/throbs. I get worried/scared as doctor said he cannot guarantee I will recover 100% and I’ll be feeling this discomfort/pain for the rest of my life.
Any advice/experience/web pages, I’d be very grateful. Thank you.
sorry, should have said the x-ray and MRI scan showed bones/muscles/ligaments were in usual condition, no problem at all. just the spinal cord is badly bruised.

How long does a pinched nerve last for?

Or the pain of one?
I’m pretty sure that’s what I have..
In my left shoulder blade, I have a really intense burning/sharp pain kinda both rolled into one. There was a lot of numbness there, but that has gone away. So far, I have had this since November of 08.

How to heal a pinched back nerve?

I pinched a nerve in my back I believe from sitting in the same position on my bed with my back pressed against my bed bar.

I have pain down the back and also nerve pains in my genital area.
A bit of numbness too.

How can I help it heal?
Would it be okay for me to go to my school courses and all if I have just pinched my back nerve?

thanks

I was hurt in a head on collision when someone drove across my lane. I previously had lower back issues, but the doctor says that MRI shows accident caused damage to two vertebrae in my neck. It has caused numbness in my hand. I am debating between settling or hiring a lawyer, but want an idea about the amount this is worth.

My spinal cord was damaged (pain and numbness have improved, but continued for 9 months-now)
I have had 1 kind painkiller, forget the name, but I’m worried about long term damage to organs? and i don’t know if it will ever recover. It’s already been 9 months. (hit hard by soccer-ball in throat)

I was in a car accident 10 months ago and after two days of talking to his insurance company I immediately called a lawyer. My car was totalled, it was 100% his fault (I have police reports to prove) and I have missed countless days of work and am still in pain. I went to three different types of doctors, had x-rays, mri’s and all sorts of tests done but i still have no use in two of my fingers, numbness and shooting pains. My last chiropractor released me basically saying there was not much more I could do and had to live with it. I have been told to see a neurologist but none will take me without insurance, or just based on my lawyer information.

I told the lawyer to just go ahead and start proceedings. She said they will come up with a demand. I dont know how this is all supposed to work but I want to make sure they are doing things RIGHT. I don’t want to get screwed just because I dont speak the legal jargon. If anyone can to tell me what to expect at this point, or what I can be doing or the lawyer should be doing that would be very helpful.

How to treat pinched nerve in arm?

I am pretty sure i have a pinched nerve in my left arm where my elbow is. i got this injury lifting weights in january and i felt numbness for about a week and a half. now i can only life 15 lbs with my left arm, but 35 with my right arm. what are the treatments to this? is this a pinched nerve? what should i do? i got my info from this website: http://www.ehow.com/video_6661_treat-pinched-nerve.html

I was in an accident in December. About a week later, though I had no pain initially, I was urged by family to go see a doctor anyway just to make sure. My primary doctor’s office told me that they do not treat auto accidents and they referred me to a clinic. I started experiencing some back discomfort and went to a clinic that only deals with auto accidents, worker’s compensation and sports injuries. Well, I only saw a chiropractor there. Before Christmas, I went there three times, and it seemed to help. The discomfort/pain was a little tough over Christmas, but by the time I got back to town, it was pretty much gone. Then I went back at the beginning of Jan. When I left, I was in discomfort/pain again. I was sent to get an MRI. I go back to this office to view the results, and whoola, there’s a new chiropractor there. I apparently have a herniated disc. I was "adjusted" by him, and on the way home, I started feeling numbness one of my toes. Today, my left leg feels different. They want to see me 3 times a week. My state requires ,000 minimum in no-fault Personal Injury Protection on auto insurance, so I always wonder if they’re trying to milk that too. (There are TONS of commercials propping up that requirement and how much you can "still get paid" even if you’re at fault). I am a young guy who doesn’t really have many health issues (at least before the accident/visit to this office). Should I stop going? If so, if I can’t see my primary doc about this, where do I go?

What symptoms indicate that you should see a physician who specializes in back injury?
numbness or tingling on the legs, buttocks, or back
back soreness after sitting for extended periods
back soreness after sleeping on your stomach
back soreness after driving long distances
all of these choices are true

my doctor said i have a pinched nerve from wareing my belt to tight and its been numb for like 5 months and now the numbness has moved down my thigh what should i do?

Can I sue employer, post back injury?

I worked in a warehouse during the summer, I had to lift heavy boxes (20-90 pounds) from a pallet onto a conveyer so as you can imagine I had to reach over my head and bend to lift many of them. My boss was there beside me a lot of the time although he would just cut the boxes open, and hassle me to go faster continuously.

I injured/strained my back doing so, lower, middle, neck and and shoulders. I wouldn’t say it was severe, as I can walk, bend, move, etc, more or less but there was this strong and chronic all around pain and discomfort and a numbness i cant really explain.
I filled out A workers Claim form for the injury. This was 2 months ago, now im getting physiotherapy. I quit the job as they were going to fire me and because im a student.

But i know that i injured myself because and while i was pressured by the manager, and when hired i wAs told id have to lift 35 pounds tops. I want to know whats my case if i want to sue?
because the back, neck, shoulder pain is still there and its mAking me depressed, and even more so because of the way i injured it.
I dont know if this changes anything but ill mention that some of those boxes weighed almost as much as i do and also have anxiety and depressive problems which are now aggravated due to this, and Due to which i was taken advantage.

I’ve gone through all the conservtive treatments except getting epidural injections. i actually did get one epidural injection, but the relief was less than 48hours.
It’s been more than a year since the accident that caused my injuries and the numbness has increased.
pain meds help me feel good but hardly do anything for the pain. I’ve actually taken more than the prescribe amount on occassion.

Does anyone with knowledge about the topic know what can be done.

Surgery on this many dics is dangerous and i don’t know………

If i leave it alone will it get worse?
