cervical spine bulging disc?

Serious answers only plz I’m worried! I have been having physio for 5mths following a high velocity RTA 6mths ago. Wasn’t x rayed at time of accident but physio ordered x ray of c spine (about 6 wks later )which showed ‘posterior displacement of c4 in relation to c5′ & ‘marked loss of height of c4/c5′ & some loss of height in relation to c6/c7, ‘no boney trauma’.
Symptoms failed to improve and include severe jaw, ear, head & eye pain & numbness & tingling in 3rd & 4th finger. More recently have developed giddiness, unsteady gait (people think I’m drunk!) and urgency of urination, also my knee give way but don’t know if these are connected.
GP ordered recent MRI scan which showed a bulging disc at C2 and I’m seeing a neurourgeon Friday. Is this serious?? Would appreciate an opinion from somebody who may know.(I’m a 51yr old female)

I injured my lower back lifting weights about two weeks ago. After two weeks it feels much better. There is a slight pain when bending at the hips or driving for too long but nothing serious, just a discomfort. I just find it odd that it hurts a little when I sneeze or when I tense up my abs. I thought it was just a muscle strain, since I can still walk normally and do other activities normally. So i decided to skip the doctor and just rest and take ibuprofen. I have no numbness or pain running down my butt or leg. But I have heard that pain when sneezing is a automatic diagnosis of a spine injury. Is this true?

I went to see my regular family Doctor because I was having very bad pain in my left shoulder and arm, I also had some numbness in my fingers. Anyway, he had me go do an MRI and after reviewing the results referred me to a neurosurgeon . My question is what would be the best kind of specialist to go see. My MRI report stated that I have a minor bulging disc " C-7 and C-6" In my cervical spine that is pinching a nerve. I have heard a few bad things about neurosurgeons and am just wondering if I should just find another kind of Doctor.

spinal injury with finger numbness?

i had a bad fall and have had numbness in my pointer finger ever since going on 8 weeks. I have no pain just strange numbness. i have not had this seen no pain why bother anyone out there been there done that ?

In April 2007 I overexerted myself walking (long strides) and the next month was an endless string of emergency room visits, Demerol, Oxycodone, and ultimately oral steroids. I had a lumbar MRI done in May 07 and it showed I had a "slight" problem with a bulging L4/5 disc that "may cause some discomfort". I would have laughed if it hadn’t hurt so bad. One doctor ran a little picky wheel over my foot and it indicated to him a problem with the sciatic nerve. He was of the opinion some pressure was being put on it by the bulging disc but he also didn’t think I was a candidate for surgery because I hadn’t lost any motor skills or bowel control. My right leg has been numb since May 07. My hips and lower back ached all the time but most likely from lack of use… I was afraid to do much because I thought I’d make it worse.
In April 08 I had another MRI done and the report stated my discs actually looked better than in 07. Good news, but the numbness was still there. I bought an inversion table and found it to be helpful overall. I use it twice a day at 30 degrees. My most important revelation however, is that I kept reading about the piriformis muscle. My overexertion walking (which nobody ever addressed) could have strained, pulled, or otherwise damaged the piriformis muscle on the right side and also put pressure on the sciatic nerve, leading me (and apparently everyone else) to believe I had sciatica due to bulging discs. I have been doing deep stretching exercises for the piriformis and the numbness in my right leg stays away for 8 hours or so. I am now of the belief that there is scar tissue on the piriformis and I must continue stretching it many times a day to ward off numbness and pain. I have copies of the 2007 and 2008 MRIs and I would like to know if there is any way to determine damage to the piriformis from those MRIs?

I have been experiencing numbness and tingling for the past month in my limbs. My MRI’s showed that I have "bulging" in both my cervical spine and my lumbar.

Does this mean surgery will be required? I am still waiting to hear more information from the dr.

burning, tingling numbness and loss of movement. the test showed signifigant nerve damage obviously where the fusion is but the dr said it’s indacative of another bulge still pressing where it shouldnt. the originall surgery was to remove all bulges and stabalize to prevent this from happening. is it possible that the dr missed some disc peices or could it happen after surgery for no other reason than just a botched surgery.

I have been having lower back pain for a few weeks, and recently re-injured it to make it worse. Now, there is numbness and tingling on the top of my foot and front/outside leg. pressure sensation is fine, but the sense of touch is greatly diminished. I am assuming it’s a pinched nerve (my entire right, lower back is inflamed). I’m worried because while I’ve had back problems before, I’ve never had this numbness in my leg/foot. I’m in my late 20s, but I don’t have health insurance. I am hoping somebody with experience can reassure me that in time, my injury will heal and I will again feel strength and touch in my lower extremities. If it won’t heal on its own, what would I need to do? Thanks for any and all helpful information.

Do I have a sciatic nerve problem?

For the past two months I have pain on my outer thigh and constant numbness. X-ray of my hip showed my hip is fine. I have no lower back pain. The pain is just isolated on the side of my leg (also the constant numbness) It feels bruised at times and other times feels like electricity is running through it, quite painful. However, when I jog or workout, the pain reduces. Is this a sciatic nerve problem or could it be something else. My doctor has no idea and I have to wait 2 months to see a neurologist.

What do MRI lumbar results indicate?

I”ve had numbness in my buttocks and these are the underlying:

Findings: At L4-L5, there is a mild disc bulging in the posterior and tear with a small right paracentral disc protrusion?

Impression:

1. At T12-L1, there is a broad-based central disc protrusion, eccentric to the right
2. At L4-L5, there is a small right paracentral disc protrusion which abuts the traversing right L5 nerve root

what treatment, if any, is necessary? thanks in advance.

I was in an accident 2 years ago, and have a plate over my right hip and a pin through my pelvis. There was nerve damage done when they had to move the nerve to put the pin through the pelvis. I have constant pins and needles, burning and numbness on the top of my right foot. The docs say it will heal itself in time. Is there anything that be done to help eleviate the pain?

Any ideas for back injury from car accident?

I was in a car accident May 6, 2008. I injured my low back and the pain is getting worse. So bad that it’s becoming unbearable. I have done Chiro, Message Therapy, Currently Physical Therapy. No broken bones and MRI showed a couple bulging disc but very minimal. He said it was not be causing this kind of pain. The pain is so BAD in the low back and down the right leg along with numbness and feeling like i’m going to fall when i walk. There are times where it goes to the left but majority down the right. There is not a position i can find where it gives me relief. Does anyone know any good back doctors or have any suggestions. it’s all covered under the car insurance, but this is getting worse by the day. It’s even getting difficult to walk. I see a pain specialist tomorrow, but i’m feeling depressed and hope they find what’s wrong and give me some relief but in the meantime any help would be appreciated. I need help!!!!

Pain in the lower back – sciatic nerve?

I’ve been with a terrible and incisive low back pain in the area of the sciatic nerve. It runs all the way down to the left hamstring and to my calf producing at some moments during the day numbness. My walking is so slow due to the continued and severe pain in my butt (just left side). Is there something could help me to deal with the pain beside over the counter drugs? Exercises?
