3 years ago when I was 17 I went to the doctor because I was having pain in my neck and down my arm into my elbow. I couldn’t turn my head left and so the doctor gave me hydrocodone and sent me to a chiropractor. They sent me somewhere to get an mri and they did xrays. They said the xray looked like I had the neck of a 40 year old woman (whatever that means). They also said that the mri showed that I had a bulged disc. I had a lot of physical therapy and chiropractics. About 9 mo later they stopped physical therapy bc I could now do it at home. I have been going to the chiro since and after 3 years I have reduced my visits drastically along with continuing pain medication. I didn’t make it out there lately when my neck started hurting and it soon moved into my lower back and then my bottom rib on the back right. I went in and he said that I had displaced my rib. He did adjustments and it still hurts just as bad to walk, breath, lay down, bend down, and I keep getting these sharp pulsing pains. I go back tomorrow… but there has got to be something that can fix these issues. I’m 20 years old and I feel like I’m 80… I ache like all of the time now. Is there a specialized doctor that would be better to help fix the problem. I shouldn’t have to take pain killers forever and rely on a chiropractor.

I am scheduled to have a second spinal fusion. My family doctor and I decided that I should get a second opinion. The neuro surgeon said that he could not help me. I went back to my orthopedic surgeon, who had by now, found out about the 2nd opinion. He scheduled me for a very painful test, one that he told me I didn’t need, and also instructed me to get my pain medication from my family doctor. I guess his pride was bruised.
It has now been 1 week since the results of the test were sent to him. He hasn’t called me to give me the results, and is now on vacation for 2 weeks. He is one of the best spinal surgeons in indiana. What should I do? I have also refused his advances in the past. This condition has been affecting me for 11 months.

i have been unfortunate enough to develop a stress fracture in each leg. There has been one in my right leg for six months but it doesn’t hurt anymore and my left leg is killing me, which is the new one i have recently developed. Im very healthy and i run track and cross country and i am having a hard time coping. My doctor gave me pain medication for my left leg but it doesn’t work. I feel as though something else needs to be done.

I posted a question earlier about the actual surgery, but I am now curious about the withdrawal from pain medications. I have weighed out my options, they are either live with unbareable pain or take pain medications. I try to take as few as possible, but I have good and bad days. Is there anyone out there that has had a severe injury that required them to take pain medications for long periods of time that is now pain medication free? Was the withdrawal extremely bad? I take three 10mg/325 of percocet a day. On good days, I do cut back to two, and on bad days I sometimes take four. I have actually been on weaker pain killers, but just keep slowly moving up to other types. Anyhow, any advice would be appreciated.

So this lady hit me as i was turning. It wasnt a huge accident at all. she rear ended me and took off some paint and left a dent on the bumper. It is still in place. At the time i did not feel that i was injured. I felt good and went on with my day at work afterwards. After a couple of hours i felt a headache that steadily kept increasing in pain. When i got home from work my headache was pretty painful. I took Tylenol and took a shower. woke up today with my back sore and stiff. I thought itd be from work but ive been doing what i do for well over a year and a half now so i doubt it was work. And i’ve never felt pain like this. Its nothing to impede my ability to walk or work, but it is discomforting and makes it hard to sleep. Now i have contacted the other person’s insurance company and my Insurance company. They are in the proccess of investigating. Every that i talk to about this says that i should seek a lawyer in assistance to recieve compensation for the accident. My question is, Do i automatically receive a compensation for this accident. also, Do i need a lawyer to recieve any compensation? This isnt one of those "Oooh OMG Lawsuit!! Yay!!" things, its just that everyone tells me that I am entitled to some sort of settlement. Please, somebody explain. Thank You! OOh btw, I went to the doctor earlier today due to the pain, i was prescribed muscle relaxers and pain medication for spasms.
let me clarify the question.
Do i need a lawyer in order to recieve compensation? Can i still be compensated witout a lawyer?

I had lung surgery 5 years ago. I had a spinal epidural which allowed me to give myself controlled pain medication after the surgery. This was in for a about a week. After a few months I began having severe pain in my back originating at that spot. This happened off and on for a couple of years then stopped. Now it is happening again. The pain is severe in that spot and radiating in my back, my right lower side goes numb (incidently that’s where my lung was removed) . The only relief I can get from this almost unbearable pain is to lay down immediately, put heat on it, take an aspirin and wait for it to pass which takes around 30 minutes. I am just curious if anyone else has ever experienced this. Thanks

I had made another post in regards to Weight Watchers points, but there is a lot more to be considered here, so I figured I should start a whole new post.
I am 4’9" tall, weigh 119 pounds, and I have one herniated and two degenerative discs in my back.
I do not like taking pain medication, so the only way I could avoid taking it was to stop exercising. I now have to take the elevator to my office at work, which is on the 5th floor, and avoid strenuous exercise. So far, walking seems to be okay.
I also quit smoking in January. This along with the Lyrica, (which caused rapid weight gain), has been a nightmare for me.
I recently started taking supplements of Cayenne Fruit, Green Tea with Hoodia and Cinnamon with Chromium to help boost my metabolism. It has only been a few days, so I cannot report any results.
What else can I do to lose weight since I cannot exert myself with physical activity?

My back bothers me all day and when I do any activity as simple as washing the dog my back will kill me all day. I do take pain medication for my migraines and i’m wondering if they would just prescribe the same thing or maybe something different? I can’t have a reduction anytime soon, my weight is good and I strength train so just wondering what most doctors would do.

I am awaiting the results of my MRI but have been in constant pain for 8 weeks now for what my doctor believes to be repetative motion/work related lower back pain. I will find out next week what specifically is wrong but my employer does not want to give me any time off or even allow me to schedule breaks within the day presently. I have tried chiropractic, accupuncture, hot/cold packs, pain medication, a steroid shot, and i cannot get any relief for more than a few hours. I have spent money on all these things plus physical therapy sessions and a tens unit. My employer says he has a problem with me inconveniencing people due to this but I have a problem with working in constant pain without breaks and getting brow beat for being in this situation. I’m trying to be a good employee but I feel as if he doesn’t care he just wants to make sure I continue making him money. What should i do if the MRI finds an injury? File a workers comp claim? I don’t want to quit or lose my job but I can’t continue if I do in fact have an injury and I’m making it worse every day. I do have a weeks vacation saved up if it is just some sort of flair up and will heal. I’m just so unsure as to what I should do to protect myself and what my rights are by law. Any advice or experience with a situation similar will be greatly appreciated.

My sciatic nerve has been a problem since I was in a car accident over four years ago. I have been to the hospital and to doctor’s, but their solution is pain medication that makes me feel out of it. Are there any home remedies out there? I could really use it- especially today!

I have a friend with a lower back injury. (L5-S1 disc hemorrhaged) She’s only 21 and has been working in a doctors office on a computer for the last 2 1/2 years. The desks at her work i noticed is non-ergonomic, she’s never had a back injury prior to this one, doesn’t lift heavy things, and she was thinking it might be job related because of her sitting position. Unfortunately her primary doctor works in the clinic she works for. When she went to see them about her injury he told her a hemorrhaged disc can happen over night and that she couldn’t claim it under L&I. An that she can continue working because she couldn’t do any further damage to it at work. Gave her some pain medication and told her go for surgery and some kind of epidural shots. I told her to go somewhere else for a consult and she’s trying to. So i was wondering if it is a possibility this could have happened from her desk set up? An has this happened to anyone else out there?

My wife and I were in an auto accident in Feb 08. It was in our 1993 Chevy truck. The other driver ran a red light and hit the driver side. As a result my head broke out the driver side window. I did not go to the ER in the ambulance we drove after the report was filed with the police. I went for neck and low back pain and wife sustained buises to her right arm and right knee. They did a Catscan that ruled I had severe whiplash and for the back pain they told me to folow up with a chiro. I recieved 2 month of treatment from them for my back. I actually stopped going because the visits started hurting. After not going for a week or so. It still hurt a getting out of bed and every now and then it would remind me. I am a police officer and light duty is not an option. Anything can happen at anytime. About a month ago I woke on a day off and I couldn’t walk without have back pain and shooting pain around my ribs, breathing hurt.I thought it was the way I slept. cont.
The pain persisted all day. I decided to sleep on another bed. All night and the next morning PAIN,PAIN,PAIN. So I went to the ER I couldn’t even made it from the car to the door. After 7 hours of getting my pain under control.|The ER doctor advised that I have a herniated disc and gave me a week off work. So in bed on my back for four days pain lets up enough to return to work. I followed up with my doctor who gave me more pain medication and sent me for x-rays. Now at work I have to get out of my patrol car periodically because my legs go numb. |I have stopped wearing my bulletproof vest because it helps a little. BAD IDEA I know but what do I do Find a new career. Still have to go back to see what x-rays showed but I am wondering what to do about the injury settlement. We already settled the vehicle part. The damages were 00 to the vehicle totalling it. Considering the truck was worth 00.
All help from claim personal would be great!!!!!!!!!

He says he is in pain with lower back pain from two slipped discs, says its too painful to work, and is constantly taking pain medication and is sleeping all day and staying up all night, mind you he is 25 years old. I am confused he has seen the doctor but this doesn’t seem normal. we also have 2 kids so we never see him cause he’s in bed for 12 hours at a time. or is he just a drug addict?

My boyfriend just recently had an MRI done, and he has a herniated disc. His back has bothered him off and on for the past year. Over the last 2 mos. he has had very bad lower back pain, and his tail bone area is very swollen. So of coarse he went to the doctors had the exam, they gave him pain medication. Now he is in the process of getting another opinion. But does anyone know any good exercises that can help relieve the pain?
