I am 32 weeks pregnant and have been suffering from Sciatica for a few weeks. I am also a full time college student and I am a server. Some days it’s so bad I hobble around, and Tylenol does nothing. Did any of you have Sciatica so bad you had to stop working? Or do you have any tips on easing the pain? The two days have been so bad I can’t get relief.

What does Sciatica in pregnancy feel like?

I am 30 weeks and have had some back pain lately. I have also had some pains in my butt muscles that sometimes tend to run down the back of my leg. Is this Sciatica? My doctor said she thinks my daughter is resting on my Sciatic nerve.

im 20 and last november my mri scan showed 3 bulging discs and 1 herniated disc on my L4-L5. after months of phisio the sciatica pains were reduced but the initial nerve pain is still there.

Not officially diagnosed, but I have looked up the symptoms myself and concluded it to be sciatica. I have a mild case. I am 29 and in decent shape. The only concern is that the pain comes and goes but on a month to month basis. I joined a gym for about a 2 week period and my back felt the best when I was working out. Sometimes it can be disappear months. My only concern is this flaring up during BCT. Is this something I should be worried about?

Are there any particularly good exercises for relieving sciatica? I think there may be a muscle imbalance involved in my case. A video would be helpful, if possible.

I’m attempting a midwife-attended VBAC in a hospital. I have developed steadily worsening sciatica during my pregnancy. Can I expect the sciatica to create issues/worsen even moreso during labour?

38 weeks sciatic nerve question?

ok this may sound silly but I know my sciatic nerve is acting up pretty regularly since about weeks 35 but today when I walk it feels like I have little splinters in my feet like a poking sensation is this ok I also noticed and I’m really lucky it’s just now happening I have no ankles ……….could it be the swelling or the sciatica?thanx

I’m 12 weeks pregnant and for the last couple of days, my right "hip" has been bothering the heck out of me. The pain starts in my lower back just about my right butt cheek and shoots down through my hip into my leg. Doc says it’s sciatica but is it normal to have it this early?

I recently began to have knee pain on bending for which i received acupuncture, the doctor informed me the knee pain was due to a lower back injury caused by stamping my foot hard during exercise. I had a weeks rest and began traing again. but now the pain is down the back of both legs, in the calves and back of thigh, its like a sharp, non-muscular pain, but doesnt seem to be sciatica either.
The pain is at worst when stretching backs of legs and when knee is fully bent.
It doesnt seem to be receeding, should i keep training through the pain or do i need to rest. Icepacks or heatpacks? any ideas?

i will be recieving a epidural steroid shot for my lower back pain and sciatica all through my legs tomorrow. i am 18 yr old male and play baseball for my high school. i have not been able to walk for a month now and been usin crutches. the pain is through out my butt, hips, hamstrings, and lower back. i was wanting to know if i will be able to walk and possibly get into baseball. also will this injection help in physical therapy.

thanks

I have been suffering from lumbar pain for more than 10 years. I had sciatica also. I feel dizziness at times when I suddenly turn my head or when I bend forward.

In April 2007 I overexerted myself walking (long strides) and the next month was an endless string of emergency room visits, Demerol, Oxycodone, and ultimately oral steroids. I had a lumbar MRI done in May 07 and it showed I had a "slight" problem with a bulging L4/5 disc that "may cause some discomfort". I would have laughed if it hadn’t hurt so bad. One doctor ran a little picky wheel over my foot and it indicated to him a problem with the sciatic nerve. He was of the opinion some pressure was being put on it by the bulging disc but he also didn’t think I was a candidate for surgery because I hadn’t lost any motor skills or bowel control. My right leg has been numb since May 07. My hips and lower back ached all the time but most likely from lack of use… I was afraid to do much because I thought I’d make it worse.
In April 08 I had another MRI done and the report stated my discs actually looked better than in 07. Good news, but the numbness was still there. I bought an inversion table and found it to be helpful overall. I use it twice a day at 30 degrees. My most important revelation however, is that I kept reading about the piriformis muscle. My overexertion walking (which nobody ever addressed) could have strained, pulled, or otherwise damaged the piriformis muscle on the right side and also put pressure on the sciatic nerve, leading me (and apparently everyone else) to believe I had sciatica due to bulging discs. I have been doing deep stretching exercises for the piriformis and the numbness in my right leg stays away for 8 hours or so. I am now of the belief that there is scar tissue on the piriformis and I must continue stretching it many times a day to ward off numbness and pain. I have copies of the 2007 and 2008 MRIs and I would like to know if there is any way to determine damage to the piriformis from those MRIs?

Is swimming a good core strengthening exercise?

I am just getting over a lower back injury from golf and a sciatica I developed along the way, and for the first time in 8 months I feel pretty good. I’m wondering if swimming would be a good exercise for core strengthening, both to help me rehab from my injury and also to help prevent further injury in the future.

I have left leg sciatica now from the thigh to the foot that seems to be worsening and makes it difficult to walk, but now I’m concerned anew because of the RIGHT arm pain and weakness, and possibly Right leg pain. But Right arm pain doesn’t make any sense from a herniated Lumbar disk, as far as I know.

I have an L4/5 disc bulge with has been painful for months and months with sciatica aswell. I’ve had a couple of traction therapy sessions with no improvement so far. Is it actually possible for traction therapy to make a bulging disc worse as in a total prolapse? Thanx for your answers in advance
