Last november I fell from what we all thaught at the time was a stroke. I was rushed to the ER. Given act scan and then tpa medication and transfered to a bigger hospital. Now almost a year later we find I have scoliosis that I didn’t have as a kid and possible spinal cord damage. The whole time thinking its from a stroke now they say no its from my spine.how did the doctors mess this one up?

Someone I know was just told he had a slight scoliosis can anyone tell me what that means? Is it a starting point for scoliosis or is his spine just misaligned?

Dr. Davis is palpating Jane’s vertebral column to determine whether she is beginning to exhibit scoliosis.

Can anyone explain this? I know that their mother wouldn’t have the missing vertebrae hanging around in her womb for 5 years, because that’s impossible, but this seems more than just a coincidence…
(In case you’re curious; my aunt, 5 years older than my mom, with her one missing vertebrae, is short and always has neck & spine problems. My mom, with her extra vertebrae, is tall, and deals with scoliosis…)

I have several injuries. A couple of herinated discs in the lower back and one in my neck and Scoliosis in the upper back where my lungs are. Right now, I have tried several types of meds but it does not seem to do much. The ones that help increase my pain twice as much as I start with so I had to get off them. All I’m asking is for a recommend brand or name of over-the-counter meds I can take.
By the way, the reason I’m asking for OTC vs. other prescription drugs is because I have taken almost all different types. My doctor even told me to get off heavy prescription or he was going to send me to rehab.

I’ve had pain off and on in the area of my middle upper back between my shoulder blades for a while now…what are the best exercises to do to help strengthen that area of the back to make it less susceptible to repeat injury? Part of the problem I think is the fact that I’ve been told I have some scoliosis in my spine which must make me favour a certain side during cardio/lifting, causing the pain.

I had spinal fusion surgery for scoliosis when I was 13 years old. (I am 22 now.) My spine is fused from just below my neck to my lower back, and I have the titanium rods. What I am wondering is…what method could be used to anesthetize me (either local or general) during vaginal child birth?
PS – I’m not pregnant now. But I am getting married soon and just want to plan for the future. Thanks!

I found out i have scoliosis and its a 46 degree curve.
so they’re talking about doing surgery to correct it and also what happens in an MRI?
is it really like sitting in a closest because i am claustrophobic!
and if i got the surgery would i get taller after? because i’m uncomfortable with my height and it would be okay if i got shorter but i believe i’d get taller haha

Alright so I’m 13 and I just found out that I have to have spinal fusion surgery. I’ve worn two braces for scoliosis for 5 years and they just haven’t worked. So I have to have the surgery on May 4th and I’m REALLY scared. ):
Can anyone tell me on what to expect before, during, and after the surgery?
Also, do you have any tips that might make it a little easier or help it seem less scary?
Thanks!

My 11 year old was diagnosed 6 months ago with Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis. Now they are running an MRI for lumbar spondylosis. I thought that was caused by old age or injury though. She has never had any back injuries. She is in therapy though because high arches knocked her bones out of line. How does an 11 year old develop osteoarthritis though.

I fractured my 5th lumbar very badly and it has been healing for just over 7 months now(I’ve been braced for about 2-3 months in one of those giant white hard plastic braces. Now, I had slight scoliosis before. Will I heal and be even better than I was originally?I’ve heard of surgeries where bones are broken purposely and casted so bones grow back in proper placement.I’m just wondering if anybody knows
i will continue using the brace until this completely heals
