Injuried back at work a few years ago. My doctor discovered I now have scoliosis.

I had spinal surgery about 6 months ago because I had scoliosis so it was a huge surgery… the doc said I can’t lift anything more than 10 pounds for 6 months. I got it done beginnng of aug 2007. Its not quite 6 months yet, but almost. I got ajob at a shoe store n there’s these shelves I gotta push full of shoes, there pretty heavy but I can push it, but I’m not sure if it wud harm my back? Isn’t pushin different from lifting? I’m not sure how much these rolling shelves weigh but there stacked with shoes.

i’ve had pain in my lower butt like down into my hamstring and i have scoliosis. could this be my sciatic nerve? is it hurting because of the scoliosis? could the nerve be pinched because of the scoliosis? is this bad? what do they do for this?

Tomorrow I’m have spinal surgery, due to scoliosis in the lower back, because despite my ability to look perfectly straight and no one knows it, my back is curved 50 degrees. Now I am well aware of the procedure, and how its going to be done. However, I was wondering about the drug they use to put me under while they operate. How long does the effect last, and will I recieve it through a needle, liquid, pill, etc? And after the surgery, I already know its going to hurt a lot, but does anyone have personal experience with the pain? What is it like, and on a scale of 1-10 how bad? Any advice, or extra details about the surgery would be great.

Has anyone been able to have an epidural during delivery that has had a spinal fusion surgery? I had the surgery about 10 years ago for scoliosis, and was just curious as to what issues it may cause? I’m not ‘set’ on having an epidural, but I’d like to have it as an option.

i’m getting spinal surgery on july 23rd of this year. i’m 5’7 and barley 95lbs.

i was woundering, will I loose lots of weight? i’ve seen pictures where someone goes in for surgery and i while later they end up loosing almost 20 pounds!

is this true for most patiets who are getting scoliosis spinal correction?

im 20 now but when i was 15 i had scoliosis and had spinal fusion down my back….do you think id be disqualified from the academy since i prob wont be able to handle the physical part?

I am having very serious spinal fusion back surgery in a little over a month. The surgery will fuse many vertebraes in my back, because I have progressive scoliosis. I am well aware that consuming tobbacco products are bad to use leading up to this surgery because it impedes the ability for a healthy recovery, because of nicotine. Does the same go for marijuana? Is it bad to smoke marijuana in the time leading up to this surgery?

What ­­is the contemporary medicine approach, surgery? Is vertebrae dislocation a muscle / tendon that has been pulled, and if so can a Osteopath manipulate the muscles/tendons back into place? I don’t have pain but I have scoliosis.

I am a 16 year old female with scoliosis and I am majoring in dance. I am very self contious of my curved spine and I suffer from pain when I dance. Will I ever be able to dance again if I get surgery?

Ive recently had a Spinal Instrumentation for scoliosis. I’m perfectly healthy and am wondering if I will ever be able to do Sit ups and push ups again. Could somebody tell me what they can Physically do? I realize each case is different but what is the "General" physical limit. Im young as well, and most of my spine was fused with 18 screws and 2 rods. Thanks.

SO I had spinal fusion back in August (in 09) and I had 2 curves in my spine. I was wondering how long it should take for my ribs to even out completely. How long does that normally take cause mine are pretty messed up from my scoliosis. I can tell that they have evened out a tiny tiny TINY bit but not very noticeable
Haha I know! But the good thing is, is that I’m not in any pain and I have great posture!

I might be getting spinal surgery cause i have scoliosis. my back curves in at the top goes out and curves in again at the back. its not straight and it hurts when i lift heavy things. my doctor told me a couple years ago that i could get a brace if i wanted to, but i DID NOT want a brace. so now like 4 years later im thinking of this surgery to correct my back so it doesnt get worse.

anyone have this before??

What are some things that I should get or do to make life easy after my back surgery? I have scoliosis and am getting surgery on the 22nd and need some tips and advice. Thank you!

My daughter has scoliosis and has been struggling with this for about two years. She wore a brace and nothing really helped her curve got worse. The doctors decided that for her health and because of breathing problems they are going to do her spinal fusion surgery. Has anyone had this surgery? How long was recovery? Are you ok now? Did you have to have a second surgery? Did you need a blood transfusion? How long did your surgery take? Anything we should know. Thanks .
